Ron Stone (1936-2008) was the news anchor at KPRC-TV (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/KPRC-TV) in Houston (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Houston) for 20 years from 1972 to 1992. He was called "the most popular and revered news anchor the city has ever known" by the Houston Chronicle (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Houston_Chronicle)

Stone wrote three books about Texas history, A Book of Texas Days, Disaster at Texas City, and Houston: Simply Spectacular

Travis wrote:

About 10 hours a big part of my formative years passed on, Ron Stone was a rock in our community as a kid - he took us through huricanes, gas shortages, the Iran Hostage Situation and made Texas history a part of our heritage.

At a time when there was only four stations on the TV, he was a fixture on Sunday afternoons right before the Disney hour.

May he rest in peace and thank you for many, many years of education and memories that will last a lifetime!
