Desc: Doesn't live up to the hype. The construction was great-- nice white ash, beautiful maduro wrapper was nice and oily, although not wet. The cigar began with a really bitter earthy taste that quickly transformed into more of a toasty BLAND flavor in the heart of the cigar. The finish burned really hot, and lent a sugary taste. Very inconsistent. Its like this cigar tried to be spicy, but couldn't pull it off.
Apostle23,
Thanks for the review. I smoked the same cigar about 6 months ago and liked it quite a lot. I'm surprised. Was the cigar properly humidified? Have you smoked more than one?
Nothing more disappointing than a smoke that lets you down. Good luck on your next selection.

It was properly humidified, although it may have been a little fresh-- I didn't age it at all-- came right from the shop.
I guess I never got around to smoking another one because of my bad first experience. How do you experience this cigar? I'm willing to give it another go. Maybe I just got an ugly duckling.
Apostle.
apostle23,
According to my notes:
As you said, nice wrapper, good draw and construction with a firm white ash.
I thought this cigar started off kind of slow in the flavor dept. There was just a little sweetness on the light. I didn't taste the bitterness you experienced in the begining. Towards the middle, the flavor opened up.
I tasted the earthiness, some chocolate and spice. Not as spicy as the Avo maduro, but it was definitely there. I smoked it past the band and didn't experience the heat as you did. I'd call this a medium bodied smoke. I'd give it a B or B+.
If the cigar was from a recent shipment, it might have been under humidified and smoked hot. A cigar wrapper doesn't necessarily have to crack to be under humidified.
The cigar could have been young. 2 or 3 months would fix that. Or maybe you just got a bad cigar. It happens.
Whether you try another or not is up to you. As sgoselin says, all I have is my own experience. That's all I know.
