View Full Version : Newbie smoke?
A buddie of mine want to try a cigar for the first time, now i really want him know what all of us know about cigars, that is taste. I want him to have something mild yet tasteful. I don't want to shock him with something really powerful. Hopefully he'll enjoy it and i'll have a new addiction to my little cigar smoking circle. Thanks for the advice.

Helix.....relatively new cigar with a mild, but flavorful taste. Nicely priced too especially for newbies.

Montecristo Double Corona... Not too strong, not too weak... great taste... Second choice would be Hemmingway Classic... Those were two of my firsts...

If you are looking for a non isom, may I suggest the Fuente Don Carlos #4/ it is a marvelous cigar. :w I would also suggest the Puros Indios #4 a great cigar for the money. also the Puros Indios Viejo the best cigar in the Puros Indios line.:D :D

Any Fonseca, Monte, or a Bolivar (not Fuerte!). These are all mild, pretty easy to get and are not to expensive.
Be sure and advise your buddy exactly how to smoke it (no inhaling, try not to swallow chunks/juice, etc) as I did the same once and my pal went right into trying to be George Burns by chomping on it. Not a pretty scene.
Thanks for all the advice, I wrote them all done, and when we get a free day him and I will go to the shop and he'll have his choice.
Thanks again!

Break him in right. Give him a Partagas Short or a HdM Le Hoyo de Depute :D

Ryan, why don't you let him try a Guantanamera, they are a machine made cuban cigar and very reasonably priced. I forgot the exact name of the one that comes in the clear tube, but these cigars a great machine-made cuban cigar.
They have a toast/honey taste to them and are very mild. I like to give these to any of my friends that want an introduction. For women I tend to introduce them to something a little more subtle. A cigarello called Al Capones, cognac or rum dipped, the sweetness is always a hit.

Not to be a cigar snob, but to use the words "great" and "machine-made" in the same sentence just seems wrong.
