View Full Version : Would appreciate recommendations for Churchills

I'm one of those "weekend smokers" who savors the cigar and the time spent with it. Even more so for a Churchill due to the time required.

But while I've found several "other" cigars that I really like, I've had no such luck in the Churchill size. So, I thought if I told you what I've tried so far, you might have some recommendations.

The Torano was rated 90+ but didn't do much for me at all.
The Arturo Fuente was OK at best. Good draw, ash and smoke, but didn't care for the flavor.
The Ashton was a very nice cigar, but slightly too mild for my palate.
The Criello(sp?) 98 was touted by many here as "close to Cuban" - and it was OK but not much more.

So....given that I like the Ashton line, what about an Ashton Churchill but in a different wrapper? I believe they have a maduro wrapper as well.

If not, what about a different brand? I've enjoyed the CAOs I've tried - do they have a Churchill? Any other suggestions?

Again, given the overall experience of the Churchills, this is where I thought I would spend my $$$ in Spain next year for Cubans. Please feel free to include suggestions for that as well.

Many thanks guys!

Dave
