Hey there folks-

After some research on this board and elsewhere, I purchased made a purchase from 'robustohumidors' on ebay.

While I'm certainly not familiar with the subtle advantages of high end humidors, the model I purchased (model 100-5 at the following link http://www.republichumidor.com/Desktophumidors.html) appears solid and well crafted. For the price (approx 20 bucks plus 15 bucks shipping) I'm very pleased.

I've also invested in the Heartfelt beads, which appear to be just amazing.

Thanks for your valuable recommendations and advice which guided me to my purchase.

congrats on that good deal! :)

The bidding for them appears to be very soft. Try using AuctionSniper -- I think that you can pretty much get almost any one for 20-30 bucks.

If the box is solid and holds humidity I would say you got a sweet deal. 150 count box for $35. Nice.

yeah the bidding does indeed look soft. there's a bunch of 'em out there too. i put a bid in one that i like :) i'd say its well worth the $$

and further down the slope i go... this will be humi #2 now :) of course once it comes in, I already have some sticks in mind for it, then i'm going to need to order more :)

I got the #25-4 about a week ago off eBay myself ($26 total with shipping). Love it, except at the rate I'm going I should have gotten a bigger one.

Good vendor. I got the model # 100-3, 150ct. Cherry w/glass humi for around $32 shipped. I like it, for the most part. Holds humidity well and is very solid. The analogue hygrometer that came bundled is not very good, IMHO; but I'm using digital anyway. Regardless, I'd strongly recommend these folks. Of course, chances are you're going to have to build a coolerdor soon.... :)

In this case size matters ;)

well i got it. i got the 100-4, for about 5 bux plus shipping, so the total is just under 20 for me. talk about scoring a deal. I can't wait for it to come in, i have some cigars all ready to go in it, and I think i'll order another sampler to make sure I fill it :)

thanks again for sharing that info, definitely got a sweet deal here!

I just got the 100-5 in myself. pretty good contruction. not flawless, but decent. The lid is a little warped at the corners, but it appears to be holding humidity well. The humidifier and hygrometer are plastic and kinda crappy, but the analog hygrometer is dead nuts on. Not that it matters, since I'm using beads and my wireless radio shack hygro. I got mine for about $35 after shipping, which is pretty good for a 150ct desktop...

Oh, and the nicest feature: Real glass! Not plexi, nicely beveled and fairly thick.

That does sound like a good deal. I have bought a couple of the cheapo $9.00 humidors on eBay and they turned out to be... well... 9.00 humidors. They are made of pine (not cedar) and arent lined with anything. BUT, they hold humidity, dont leak, and make good storage units. Ill post some pics one of these days. My nicer CAO unit has a much tighter tolerance. It is good to hear that there are still some high-quality deals out there, Ill have to check it out.

Only two. I would think you would qualify for wholesale pricing:).

Got a smaller one from them. Nice product. I did dump the accessories and put in beads and a decent hygrometer.

That was in the days when I was happy with a few decent sized humidors. I later became not so happy with that and moved on to the large cabinet.
I now wish I had not gotten rid of those humis.
Lesson I learned is you could never have enough.

FYI to all: Summer is the best time to get positively stupid deals for humidors on eBay. Most folks are traveling, paying for vacations, getting kids or themselves back to school and all the expense that entails, not really shopping much for luxury items. So in many cases humidors are being sold at a loss. It's eBay, it happens. If the normal trends hold fast this will end soon. Bid counts are already starting to increase. Get 'em while they're hot!

well, my humidor came in today. let me tell ya, this thing is sweet. hell its nicer than the one i had before! not sure about the hygrometer, but i just put it in my other humidor with the calibrated hygrometer, so we'll see how close it gets. i'm in the process of prepping my humidor for use, but man this thing is very good for the price. nice hinges, seems o have a tight seal too, and a beautiful finish. not sure if it'll hold 70 cigars, but it should definitely hold 50 :) Can't wait to loada this thing up :) hehe.

I ordered one last week after seeing this thread, and it came in today. I got the 25-2 and its a nice looking humidor. I agree with jxpfeer that it probably won't hold 70 cigars, but should hold a decent amount. Can't wait till the seasoning process is done to load it up.

the best thing for me about this extra capacity, is that now i have to go buy more smokes :)

i'm still very happy with mine. i haven't had any issues with it yet. hope you like yours mclaren...

wonder if we can get a kickback, from all the business this thread has made for that guy :)
