Im looking into buying a Porsche design lighters however before buying Id like to learn a little more about the different types. first of all I want the one that is most windproof and most durable with the largest gas reserve. im not sure if I should get the torch one, the quartz electro flame or the flint. hopefully some of you either have had both or could at least tell me your thoughts and rough estimates of these characteristics.

For the money I like the Dupont lighters. Dupont Xtend is a nice lighter for around $130.00. RJT

Here's my experience, FWIW:
I have both an X-Tend (Mark at cigarmony - no kickbacks for the plug!) and an "Integral Style"
(Lotus, Porsche, same mfg. for both) lighter. I like them both a lot. The Lotus performed superbly for
about 10 months and then I dropped it (20") onto my wood desk top, and the internal tank
promptly broke and the butane vented. I shipped it off to Ft. Lauderdale to get fixed or
replaced under warranty, and got an X-Tend to hold me over for a month while I am waiting. I have
the Lotus table lighter as well, and bought my friend the Porsche flavor lighter last year for
X-Mas. IMHO, the Integral lighter family rates a 9/10 and the DuPont is about a 7.5 or 8/10. Don't get me wrong - the X-Tend works great and I am happy with it. It is just not as stylish or heavy feeling (ie. strong construction) as the Integral units. All the herfing crew at the local cigar club enjoy borrowing the Lotus unit and it really is a sweet piece. Can't wait till it's back in another week or so.... until then, the DuPont is doing excellent work as a pinch hitter....
Net-Net: Get the Integral Style unit (Porsche)

If you're in the NJ area, give me a shout, we'll herf, and you can get some thumb-time in on the lighter personally.
Sorry about that CS review. I move around some of the pictures. See the full review on my personal site here: CLICKY (http://www.gothammarketing.com/rck/PD6.htm)

I have the PD6 in grey, as well as the carbon fiber Robusto case, some sunglasses; oh yeah and a Carrera 2 modified for track use.. (but that is quite a different subject..) the lighter is really quite well designed and built.. the people at Integral are pretty decent.. I think the design comes from the industrial design firm of FA Porsche aka "Butzi" as described here..

History
Professor Ferdinand Alexander Porsche, designer of the Porsche 911 and grandson of the Porsche founder, opened the Porsche Design Studio in Stuttgart in 1972, which was moved to Zell am See, Austria, two years later. The 911 quickly became the quintessential sports car and a design classic, along with many other products that Professor F. A. Porsche designed. Over the following decades, numerous classic men’s accessories such as watches, glasses and writing utensils were created and marketed worldwide under the “Porsche Design” brand. At the same time, many industrial products and household- and consumer goods for internationally recognized clients, including streetcars for the city of Vienna, were developed under the “Design by F.A. Porsche” brand. All of the studio’s works are distinguished by a clear and functional design language, careful selection of materials and high-quality workmanship, which combines artisan tradition with state-of-the-art technology. Since 2005 all products have been developed and marketed under the brand Porsche Design."
