Greetings All! I am new to the group. Been smoking cigars now for about 3 years and greatly enjoying this glorius hobby. Some of my fav's are All C*bans, El Rey Mundo's, Padron's, Onyx's, and R&J's. Daily Fav's include Hombre de Oro, Flor de Florez, Havana Sunrise, Habana Gold's(w/l), and Sancho Panza's (Hon).
Just curious about these Opus X's. I've heard about how good they are, but never able to find them in any Shop or out of stock. Why are these Opus X's so hard to find, and of course carry a hefty pricetag to them(as much as $35 USD)? Anyone know if they can be purchased on the Net and where? Thanks! :D

First off welcome to CS.

As far as the Opus go it would probably be easier for you to find someone who would trade, gift or sell you a onee or a few. Someone here maybe be able to help, if not try.

www.onlinehumidor.com

Someone is always selling Opus there.

Just keep in mind that the person you strike a deal with may ask for your part of the deal first. Good Luck! :)

If all else fails try being real nice to a guy named Pete!! LOL

Joe P: Thanks for the welcome, and the link for these Opus X's. I will continue my hunt for them with a couple more local areas before I consider a trade. Actually, I really don't know what to trade for them. I do have some Habanos and other Primo's, but reluntant to trade as this time esp. since I really haven't tried an Opus X yet. Maybe, once I can try one of those mythical Opus X, I will understand the value of them.:-)

[updated:LAST EDITED ON Jul-27-02 AT 11:51 AM (CDT)]welcome- i see opusx around sometimes but i never pay much attention because i don't like them. while you're waiting for your big disappointment, try a fuente don carlos- they're not as expensive as opusx and they're the best of the fuente line.

i should add if you don't like the don carlos, you will almost surely not like the opusx.

the future ain't what it used to be

Poker: Thanks...I'm still trying to find out more about them. I've tried and sampled many cigars, but this one eludes me. Still trying to find out what they really go for, and trade value. I'm open to suggestions...thanks:)

What they go for is MSRP, or within 10% of it is reasonable. Otherwise, you're getting ripped off. Any authorized Fuente retailer found selling OpusX at inflated prices risks losing their Fuente account perminently. Many ridiculous prices can be found at places that are not authorized by Fuente and aquire them elsewhere. Be aware there are fake Opus X floating around as well.

Heres the MSRP for them:

Perfection #4
5 3/16 x 43
$8.25

Perfection #5
4 7/8 x 40
$7.50

xXx (aka Power Ranger)
4 5/8 x 49
$8.75

Fuente Fuente
5 5/8 x 46
$9.00

Petite Lancero
6 1/4 x 39
$9.50

Robusto
5 1/4 x 50
$10.50

Perfection #2
6 3/8 x 52
$13.50

Double Corona
7 5/8 x 49
$14.50

Reserva D'Chateau
7 x 48
$12.50

Super Belicoso
5 5/8 X 54
$11.50

Perfection X
6 1/4 x 48
$11.50

A
9 1/4 x 47
$25.00

it should be made clear that when you buy from a retailer the above prices + or - a few bucks is what you should pay, HOWEVER because most of us have as hard of a time as you getting them, they often go for a lot in auction.... even here on this board i would say....

anyway.... good luck in your search.

Try e-mailing a guy named Richie at richoaa@aol.com. He lives in NJ and I've purchased many genuine OpusX from him. He also advertises from time to time on Yahoo Actions.

Welcome!

To date, I've had exactly one Opus X - an xXx - and I didn't care for it at all. It was all spice and nothing else IMHO. It also had some major burn problems - it seemed to have a flame-retardant wrapper. So maybe I just got a bad one? My favorite AF to date is a Chateau Mad. I would take one of these any day over the Opus X that I had. BTW, I still have two Opi in the 'dor, so I'll soon find out if the first one was just a bad data point.

Welcome aboard!

I enjoy the Opus X but not at the prices that it retails for here. I live just outside of Washington, DC and the last time I checked, the Power Ranger was retailing at $21. At that price, by the time I get two, I am well on my way to a box of Partagas Shorts which to me has a spicy taste that I prefer and ages far better.

Don't let me rain on your parade however, continue to enjoy whatever you enjoy.

levell3: Thanks for the offer...I was finally able to try an Opus X through the kind graces of a fellow member. Great cigar, good solid flavor, but I do agree with most that it is overrated and overpriced.

Not a prob just checking, not going to start on the merits of Opus but glad you got to try one. ;)
