Hey everyone,
I have a question regarding Hemingways...does anyone know some merchants which carry the "short story" in stock, and for a reasonable price? (boxes) While I'm asking, are other Hemingways as good or better?
Thanks,
Paul

I will only add, if you can can FIND a maduro shorty, snatch it up. Other wise, try a Maduro Work Of Art.

A full sealed box of Short Stories should be in the $100-$125 range. Good luck in your hunt.

BTW welcome to Club Stogie!

[updated:LAST EDITED ON Jul-09-02 AT 02:57 AM (CDT)]Try www.bestcigarprices.com where they are $150.00 a box, plus shipping. Ouch! Or do a search on Google, AltaVista or www.cigarprice.com. However, if you can find them much cheaper than bestcigarprices, send me your hat, because I sure enough intend to eat it. Overpriced, but that's Fuente, and if that's your choice, good luck. Let me add as an afterthought that if you haven't seen their website, bestcigarprices has an huge selection of cigars. I suspect but cannot guarantee that their prices are fairly competitive. To be sure, you'll have to do a bit of research on your own.

Welcoome to the jungle Paul!

Are you anywhere near a JR's? They sometimes have them in the store (I seem to recall them being $120) and you can call JR's 800 number and ask. They sometimes have them (they don't publish them on the website).

I was somewhat delinquent in my previous post in failing to mention never having actually ordered from bestcigarprices. That's a little bit of an "oops," wouldn't you say? Has anyone ever thought of just suggesting that my long nose be kept out of these types of inquiries? Has anyone ever thought of my long nose at all? Well, maybe someone has tried bcp and will help us/me out. They have had a website for a fair amount of time. Problem is they're not able to carry quite the, shall I say, "catagory" of cigar that has become my preference.

I've used them many times, and found them to be very good and very price competitive.

[updated:LAST EDITED ON Jul-09-02 AT 11:58 PM (CDT)]Thank you very much for your help on bcp, PDS. I am now looking at Holt's Father's Day 2002 catalogue, and they list the Hemi Short Story at $103.75 for a box of twenty-five, plus shipping. Besides the fact that my brains lately seem to be turning to oatmeal, and that I have been compelled recently to spend an inordinate amount of time eating hats, why I did not think to look there in the first place is anyone's guess. It was within arm's reach all the time. Sorry if this info comes too late to save you some money, djpsr. Holt's and, as Tom stated, JR's, usually seem to be pretty good bets as far as price, if they happen to have what you're looking for. Now, to what I am sure will be to everyone's dismay, I shall sign off. They're expecting me presently in the day room for the afternoon group therapy session.

Editor's Note: An "afternoon" group therapy session, of course, cannot possibly be taking place at 11:58 PM (CDT). This guy is as crazy as a bedbug.

Following in jdancingkid's footsteps, I'll add that http://www.tobaccobarns.com claims to have both nat and mad Short Stories for $105 per box. I have never dealt with them, but I was browsing one day to see who had the best deals on Chateau Fuentes and found them to have some very competitive prices for most of the Fuente products.

BTW, welcome!

Gents,
Thanks for all the helpful direction...I've made a few calls and tried to find them with little luck previously. I'm going to attempt to buy these at the tobaccobarns.com website that Bob put out there. If not, I'll just forget it. I'm not gonna spend $150 on a $100 box of smokes!!!

Actually, the last time I was here in the Tampa area, the Tampa Airport had the best selection of Fuentes I could find including Opus (believe it or not). Full boxes of Hemi's, Don Carlos, & Opus.

No such thing as a maduro Short Story, in production anyway. So, shy away from anyone selling them.

A friend of mine was in Russia and said the samething.
It was in the duty free shop. He said hotels had some
and there were a few shops, but the airport had the
most.

believe it or not, at one time they were a regular production. I saw a box of them on the shelfs about 6-7 years ago

Poker,
If you happen to see a reasonably priced box(under $110 or so) and it's not a problem, I'd appreciate it. I tried to order from Tobacco Barn and Holts, and they're both backordered till November, it seems.
Cheers,
Paul

Welcome to the Jungle Slimboli!

I am shocked that Holt's has 'em. I may have to buy some "just because"!

The Maddies you talk about from the herf many moons ago....that is where the Maddies I had came from...and boy THOSE were the best Hemi's I have ever had. PERIOD
