FIRST... MANY THANKS to those of you who've sent well-wishes to Henry! He's resting comfortably in the hospital, pitching a royal bitch over the food, and looking forward to getting back to his work shed on or about Friday afternoon.
Cindi and I went over PM reservations for Henry's Special Edition holiday tool sets tonight, and want to be certain that we haven't forgotten anyone! 50 personallzed sets are available. So far, this is what we have, according to PM date/time and CS "handle"... Of course, this can change as actual orders are made:
#1: Dr. Stogie Fresh
#2: Dr. Stogie Fresh (Dave for gift)
#3: Moglman (Scott)
#4: Caskwith (Chris)
#5: PDS
#6: Ron1YY
#7 Moosie (Eric)
#8 & #9: Blake Lockhart (Dave)
#10: dartsinsa
#11: trogdor (Marc)
#12: tech-ninja (Stewart)
If we've overlooked or failed to record a reservation, please PM us. We'll make things right!

Just spoke with Henry on the phone... He's supposed to be released tomorrow, but couldn't pass up the opportunity to give his nurse's ass a squeeze while she was taking his blood pressure (I can't apologize for Henry's behavior... But I can commend it!!!).
Anyway... The Oak handles are remarkable! They've been finished, sanded, and finished so many times, it's tough to keep track! Suffice to say that these will be the kind of tools Henry wanted to make... The kind of tools that will be passed on for generations, along with the stories that go with them!
OKAY... Have to drive down to get Henry out of the "joint" tomorrow afternoon. Here's where we are tonight on reservations for Henry's Special Edition. Please keep in mind that Issue Numbers (01 - 50) will change as committments to purchase change:
#1: Dr. Stogie Fresh
#2: Dr. Stogie Fresh (Dave)

JAMIE,
You're in, and it will appear on an updated list tonight.
HOWEVER... Our FIRST concern is that you received your set of Henry's "Original" Tools!!! Cindi confirmed that they were sent last Friday via USPS First Class. There's NO WAY you shouldn't have received them by now!
We'll PM you tonight. If you haven't received your set, a package will go out in the morning. PERIOD.
Henry would get really pissed off if we screwed up on delivering his product. And the LAST thing I need is for Henry to be pissed when we fetch him from the hospital tomorrow! BELEIVE me... "Hell hath no fury like a pissed-off Henry!"
We'll make it right, brother

THANKS MAN!
We visited Henry in the hospital tonight... Hope you don't mind that we took a hard-copy of your note (above) along with us.
It's quite difficult to put into words just how much this means to Henry. I mean, he read your post, and a tear ran down his cheek! NOTHING is so important to Henry than to know that his work is appreciated.
PERIOD.

STICKMAN,
Henry's "Original" sets are always available to CS members. We limit eBay sales to once per month, thereby accepting ****** payments trhough their service.
Individual orders (for the time being) are limited to our P.O, box, checks/MOs, and the implicit bond of trust & faith in fellow CS members. Please PM us if you wish to order.
And PLEASE keep in mind that Henry's Tool Sets are NOT for everyone, nor are they intended to be a "fool-proof" solution to cigar plugs and draw problems. They ARE what they say they are: A way to enhance and improve your cigar-smoking experience;
PERIOD.
Thanks again!

JAMIE,
The Special Edition sets are functionally identical to the Original sets. Differences in the SE sets are:
-- Polished, high-nickel steel shafts
-- Oak handles
-- Recipient's initials embossed in the handles
-- Issue number (1 to 50) burned into the handle butts
-- Certificate of authenticity, signed by Henry
-- Presentation in a gift box
The Special Edition sets will be priced near $20 + S/H, though we will not nail down the price until we present photos of the finished product to CS BOTLs/SOTLs.
Only 50 Special Edition sets will be crafted in 2006. Because the embossments and final protective coats of varnish will require a few days of Henry's time, shipment of the SE sets will occur approximately 5 days after payment is received.
Please understand the the Special Edition sets are something of an extravagance, offered to those who've already used and appreciate Henry's Original tool sets. If you're looking purely for "function," Henry's Original Tool Sets are, by far, the best way to go!
Here's where we stand on reservations for the Special Edition sets as of this morning:
#1: Dr. Stogie Fresh (gratis)
#2: Dr. Stogie Fresh (Dave)
#3: Moglman (Scott)
#4: Caskwith (Chris)
#5: PDS
#6: Ron1YY

Reservations are NOT binding agreements. They are simply a way for us to keep track and report back to those who may wish to have a set before the Holidays.
Incidentally... We're picking Henry up when he's released from the hospital late this afternoon. I asked him if there was anything he'd like us to bring.
His response? "A beer and one of those Padrons."
Ahh well... Onward and Foreward!!!

Consider yourself listed (update below). I think you guys are really going to like these tools... Cure time between coats of varnish on the handles is painfully slow... Henry gave me the first (#01) set of Special editions tonight.
It bears the letters "DOC," and it's for DR. Stogie Fresh. And I will post photos of Dave's tools tomorrow night.
If you're looking for "picture-perfect" embossment of the initials, look elsewhere! These are hand-hammered tools, and no two are alike. Henry doesn't care much for folks who put stuff under a microscope... He figures that good cigars and good microscopes don't have much in common.
I pretty-much agree.

But Henry would prefer that you think of his tool sets more as "necessities" than "accessories." I think you'll see why once you've used them for awhile.

LesIsMore,
You're in.
We stand behind the "guarantee" that Henry has insisted upon... If the tool set doesn't pay for itself, return it. We'll refund the purchase price plus return postage, no questions asked.
As I've said before... I still have three sets of Henry's Original tools, and there's NO WAY I would part with them.
We LIKE to think that when we pay five bucks for a good stick, we'll get a perfect draw. Unfortunately, that's just not the case. Henry's tools are made for "correcting" or "adjusting" the draw to suit your preference.

MY Apologies, guys!
We're LATE on posting a photo of Henry's Special Edition sets.
Henry has been in fits over trying to get embossments "right" (though they'll still be imperfect, hand-hammered handles).
Photos of Doc's set (#01) will appear tomorrow night. Henry makes NO APPOLOGIES on this. Protective coats are curing.

ANDY,
Duly noted. An updated list of reservations will appear below.
PLEASE understand that these are NOT "machine-made" tools. Henry uses an old set of embossing dies, an old brass jeweler's hammer, and "taps" in the embossments. The result is imperfect (as you will see from photos of Doc's set)... But each set is one-of-a-kind. That's how Henry does things.

Your reservation has been made, and we will PM you for particulars on the embossment.
Funny... I never knew that such a tool existed until Henry verbally thrashed me for trashing a plugged stick! Since that time, I've "saved" dozens of cigars. And, as I've mentioned before, the tools have become as "essential" to me as my lighter and cutter. I don't "like" having to use them... But when the occasion requires it, I'm sure glad I have them!

Kurt,
You're in, and you're on (please see updated list). 50 of the Special Edition sets is just about the threshhold of pain for Henry this year. We had off-and-on snow squalls nearly all day. Henry stoked up the wood stove in his work shed this morning, and he's been fussing with getting handles finished the better part of the day.

PockyP,
Cindi will post photos ASAP. The gift boxes should be here no later than Monday. Confirming PMs will go out to those on the reservation list early next week.
YES... I suppose you might consider the Special Edition Sets "collectors" items. But I think that for Henry, it's more just a little something special he wanted to do for those who've already found value in his Classic Sets.
After his wife passed, Henry went into a sort of nose-dive. It wasn't until we suggested that he offer his sets to CS members that he found a sort of "purpose" in getting on from day to day.
Henry is a LONER... He's not much trusting in strangers... But since we convinced him to allow us to offer his tool sets via CS, and since he's read some of the positive response, he's become a "Happy Loner."

KJD,
As I mentioned in a reply PM, we sincerely apologize for the oversight! I called Henry tonight (won't see him until this weekend)... Explained the shortfall on our part... And he said simply to "tell KJD there's something extra coming with his set." I don't know what that is... But I DO KNOW that Henry means what he says.
Here's the updated reservation list:

you have any pictures?
ROCKY,
GLAD you asked!!!
A new thread will appear tomorrow night, and the first Special Edition set (for Dr. Stogiefresh) will be shown. We'll also give you a sense for how we'll contact those on the reservation list, payment options, etc.
The Special Edition project has been a REAL KICK for Henry! He's got about 120 oak handles pre-finished with 8 coats of varnish (sanding and curing between coats). He's waiting for me to give him confirmation on intials for the embossing/finishing process (which takes about three days).
A year ago, Henry was "Scrooge," straight out of The Christmas Story.
Today, he's just an old guy who enjoys doing good things for good people.
PERIOD.
I'd like one also. P.M. sent.

Thanks for the update. Hope all is good in your neck of the woods. Let Henry know that he saved one more cigar last night, a Fonseca Serie F that I recived as a gift. It had been sleeping in my humi for some time now and to toss it whould have broken my heart.
Mark one up for the good guy! HENRY

AMOSZZ... THANKS for the post! I'll print, show it to Henry on Friday, and I KNOW it'll bring a smile to his craggy old face! Again, I can't begin to tell you how profoundly these small "success stories" affect Henry!!!

KJD... Consider it done! An updated reservation list will appear on a NEW THREAD tonight, dedicated EXCLUSIVELY to the Special Edition sets. Photos will be available there. It will also detail our follow-up process on existing reservations, along with alternative means of payment.
A SEPERATE new thread will be dedicated to Henry's Classic sets. That will appear on Sunday, and photos of all four handle variaeties will be shown (Maple, Walnut, Cherry, Ebony).

GUYS,
THANKS to you ALL for orders!
Henry is stone-cold in-process on the embossing/highlighting... And you all have made one "old man's dream-come-true."
"Function" of Henry's tool sets can certainly be replicated, The caraftsmanship can't.
PERIOD.
