Saving a cuban.

Okay, my tally of "saved" cigars is up to 7 with the newest rescued cigar hailing from Cuba. I had a ERDM Choix Supreme with some age on it that was gifted by a very generous BOTL here at CS and it was plugged. So I slid in the draw tool and left it for about 30 seconds in place and the draw was near perfect.

Being more of a draw snob than a cigar snob, I rate everything on how close it is to Padron or Patel when it comes to draw. With the help of Henry's tools I can have that for every cigar. Yes, I have split a cigar with it when I first tried it but that cigar was already unsmokable so as of right now the tool set is 7 and 1.

If you care about the draw on your cigars, I highly recommend you get these tools and quit fighting with cigars and start enjoying them.

I can not give Palm55 any rg right now so I would appreciate it if someone would help. He is a VERY generous BOTL and deserves all of the good things he gets.

Last night after a big dinner out we were talking about the new Saw III movie coming out and a great buddy of mine said he hadn't seen the first two. So starting at 10 pm we decided to go rent them and have a mini movie marathon. I took over to his place a nice Partagas Black while I brought for myself a Gurkha Grand Master - Special Edition Dos Capas. This is a monster 8.5x52 that I thought would be perfect for the next 3 hours of movie watching. Just before I left my place though I prepared my Gar and for good measure used the long lance from Henry's Tool. Got to his place, after being set up with a generous 3 finger Craggenmore on a couple rocks, it was time to light up. Fantastic draw, he was smoking the Partages which is his favourite but size wise was 1/3 as long as the Gurkhas and my draw was worlds better than his. Good thing I gave him a set up Henry's Tools about a week ago and after a minute all was right. Love the tools! Has made smoking alot more enjoyable ... perfect draws all the time.

Nice review and compliment!

I believe that these should be as important to the smoker as a humi. But that is just my opinion.

SCOTTIE,

THANKS for the feedback!

I printed it, took it down to Henry, and he got kind of "misty!"

BTW... Another "Henryism":

"If you can't drive a stick-shift, you got no business smoking cigars!"

JEFE,

THANKS!

Funny how these stupid tools allow us to "adjust" the draw. When Henry gave me my first set of tools, and showed me how to use them, I figured he was just a crazy old bastard with a crazy tool.

He's crazy... The tools aren't!

Onward & Forward!

SCOTTIE,

I haven't saved you a dime!

Henry's the one who saved you money.

Henry's my friend. Yes, he's an old bastard. But I've found there's a LOT to learn from old bastards!

Onward & Forward!

I reprinted these posts for Henry, guys...

And I can tell you (again and again) that there NOTHING that gives the old bastard GREATER pleasure (aside from a good cigar) than to hear that his tools sets are working for you!

Thank You, again and again!

Henry's Tools (in his words) "don't win an award for nothin'!"

Henry enjoys the feeling of retiring for the night KNOWING that he's done "something for someone somewhere" to enhance the cigar experience.

PERIOD.

SCOTTIE,

THANKS!

Your "SLV" handles are looking good, shafts will be assembled tomorrow, a final top-coat will be applied tomorrow night, and they will be shipped on Tuesday.

Please keep in mind that I am at Henry's mercy on the Special Edition sets. He insists upon extra top-coats and curing. I do not argue with Henry when it comes to his tool sets (though I argue constantly on other matters!).

Henry doesn't argue with me on choice-of-baits for fishing. Maybe that's why he's kind of pissed-off at me right now!

Ahh well... Onward and Forward!!!

"So I slid in the draw tool and left it for about 30 seconds in place and the draw was near perfect."

I posted some time back that I think this is what works best. After you work the tool in you cigar let it sit for a bit and the tobacco forms around the shaft to open it up. If you just poke and pull it out it dosent work as well.

Ok guys keep your minds out of the gutter with this one please. :D RJT

RJT... Thanks for the tip! I'm going to incorporate it into Henry's "Instruction" sheet.

FUNNY! About four months ago, I threw several sets of these out for evaluation by CS members. The input resulted in larger handles, incremental hash-marks on the shafts, and several "experiments" on tip design.

The result has been a better tool set, based on CS input, and Henry's sense for "what works right."

In Henry's words:

"Some stuff works. Some stuff doesn't. Keep the stuff that works, and shit-can the stuff that doesn't... PERIOD!!!"

THANKS RJT!!!

Your "tip" has been added to the "Instructions" sheet included with all of Henry's tool sets.

As I've said before, "Henry's" tool sets are actually "Club Stogie" tool sets. They've been gradually improved, thanks to the feedback from you and other CS BOTLs.

As Dr. Stogiefresh has suggested, Henry could adjust the draw on his cigar "blindfolded." I've reached the point where I can do it with one eye closed. But that's with about a year of "practice time."

Onward and Forward!

About all I can say is that you guys are very kind in your comments!

I've said before that Henry's tool sets AREN'T for "everyone." Henry makes them up for guys with the patience to "tailor" their cigar draw to suit their preference.

Henry "fiddles" with his cigars a lot! He'll give it a poke here, and a poke there, until he likes the draw. If you don't like fiddling with your cigars, Henry's tools will be of NO use to you.

PERIOD.

Well, I've gotta send another thank out to Henry. I smoked an OpusX tonight. About 1/3 of the way in, the draw became so tight, I could no longer smoke it. Luckily I had brought my set with me. I opened it up and it smoked like a charm. Thanks Henry!!

MALIK... BELIEVE me when I tell you that Henry thanks you back! As I've said before, there is NOTHING that pleases that old fart more than stories of cigar "saves" with the tools.

And as you know, the tools aren't just to "unplug" a bad smoke... They're intended to "adjust" the draw to suit your preference.

Funny... My barber asked me for a set to gift to a friend of she and her husband's. I usually leave her the customary $5 tip after a haircut. Last week, the haircut was free, and she left me a $10 tip.

PHEW!!!

She said that their friend had saved about 50 bucks on crashed cigars. At this rate, I'll probably go completely bald before I need another haircut!!!
