So let's talk about these Palios. If you haven't seen the pics you can find them at Mark's shop, www.cigarmony.com.
As a Xikar Xi2 owner I'm really looking forward to getting a Palio and with these two new models I can also get the "eye-candy" which was previously Xikar's advantage over the Palio.
I really like the Carbon Fiber model. It just looks exciting and appeals to me: I like anything modern, metallic and maybe a bit oriental. I wasn't sure about the colours at first but then I realised that you can pretty much paired it up with any style of lighter. As I'm also getting S.T. Dupont Xtend whether I pick the metal matte model or the purple duotone model they both will look good with the Carbon Fiber.
The Burlwood is nice too. Somehow it just look delicious. :dr I'm sure many people will prefer this model since I guess it looks sophisticated and valuable.
Do share your thoughts about these new models. I hear they are coming in November. Don't know what the price will be though. Hopefully Mark can sell it for no more than 50 dollars.

As an auto racing fan and car enthusiast the carbon fiber greatly appeals to me. I am so down in other words!! :w

I anticipate that there will be some supply demand problems with these two new models.
I would be curious to learn from Mark which of the two sells better. For people new to the hobby, cigarmony.com is probably the best place to buy accessories, from both the price and customer service perspective.
I have the original Palio which is only two months old and around 20 sticks into its service life. I am really trying to justify another purchase. AAAARRRGH!

Im sort of dissapointed with the new styles, from the pics they seem sort of cheap looking. however my opinion may change when i handle one. does anyone know if the carbon fiber palio is truly made out of carbon fiber or is it a decorated plastic composite (carbon fiber resemblance)?

Sigarz,
Go to a local tobaccoist that carries them then buy one from cigarmony.com.
Palios definately don't feel cheap, the tolerances are very tight, there is no "slop" in the cutting action.
I would assume that the whole thing is solid carbon fibre, and I would also assume that the price of these new cutters will reflect that.
Go out and fool around with one I'm pretty sure that you will like it. I use mine everytime, and the slight dip in the middle of the cutter is a very good cigar holder. I end up using that feature every time I smoke.

Looks really cool, and i agree looks were a main buying point over palios in the past

Well, we must admit we are addressing this earlier than we had thought we would, but here goes.....
The new versions of the Palió cigar cutter will be available in the coming weeks. Our original intention was to have them available already, but we have taken our time in everything we have done with our company to this point and will continue to do so. If our products and other ventures are not exactly as we want them to be we refuse to go forward with them. To this end we have taken a little longer period of time to make some adjustments we felt necessary.
The new versions of the Palió cigar cutter are not actual Carbon fiber or Burl wood, as the action of the cutter would not remain the same for many reasons. We have always wanted the Palió cigar cutter to have different looks and knew that this would be of great appeal to our customers and to new ones alike. The issue was that the previous owners of the Palió cigar cutter could never figure out a way to incorporate some finishing application without affecting the cutters ability to do its job. We believe we have found a way to offer variety in finish, which is truly limitless and can offer the consumer choices now and into the future. The price of the Design Palió series cutters will be higher than our original composite Palió cigar cutter, but reasonable given the finish and durability.
We are pleased with the reception our product has gotten in its original form and the “buzz” our new versions have created though they have yet to be released. We as a company would like to take this opportunity to thank all of you who have spoken so nicely about our product. We will continue to produce and bring to market products that will meet your approval and continually strive to improve every aspect of our business. Rest assured we are always working on new ideas and what you have seen and will see soon is only the beginning.
Sincerely,
Brother of the Leaf

Yeah, I didnt think from the pictures at least that it would be actual carbon fiber however, with actual Palio company personal taking the time to address CS and the incredible reviews and talk ive read in the past on CS i think I will be ordering an original from mark in the near future. perhaps as an early christmas gift to myself.:D

Thank you for the updated information, as always its great to see a company with this type of personal commitment to the Cigar Community. Your company is always actively involved in the boards and trust me its noticed and VERY much appreciated.
Sigarz, I had the extreme pleasure of checking out the new models while I was at the RTDA show this July and trust me they look anything but cheap. I know most will flip over how cool the Carbon Fiber one looks but I personally think the Burlwood one is just beautiful. It looks and feels high class and delivers the best cut out there. You needn't worry about the quality as when you first use one that doubt will vanish.

I was fortunate to see the two new cutters at SoCal 7 this past July. Very impressive. The quality and class of ALL the Palio cutters are a reflection of the owners. These new models will not disappoint.

So they are going to be more expensive than the original Palio. Hopefully not much more expensive... as I live in Finland the customs charges will just kill me (if I order from Mark). Of course these cutters will be sold in Europe as well but I'm sure we won't see them here in this year. Moreover, as the original Palio's price in my fav place to buy cigars in Germany is about 108 dollars I bet I'll pass out when I see what they will ask for these new Palios.
I really like the new look. Just in time for Xmas too.

Mark,
How about a waiting list?
People have been emailing me at cigarmony @ gmail.com and getting on a 'pre-order' list.
If anyone wants to get on the list, just shoot me an email with what model(s) and how many.
Once they are ready, I'll simply place my regular order with the 'pre-order' list attached to it.
I'll email everyone and give them a link to order from once I get word they are on the way.
Please keep in mind, no definitive date or price has been set yet.
Hope this helps

I think this was already dealt with earlier in this thread. These two new models are made of the same material the original is made of. Apparently, if they had used other materials the structure/performance wouldn't be the same. So think of these as "colours" and not materials.

If you say so... but I'm still not seeing that anywhere in the thread. What Mark said is that the new cutters "are not actual Carbon fiber or Burl wood," but he didn't say that they were simply a color change. Looks like more than a "color change" to me, though I must admit I haven't actually seen the new ones up close and personal.

Hmmm... Well yes. I checkout out what I was referring to and, admittedly, the question whether or not they are of the same material as the original Palio was left open.

The cutter is still made from the same composite material, so you could consider it a color change. Just thought I'd clear that up :)

I hate fake finishes too, so we would never release them if they looked bad. These finishes look very good and as close to real as you can get.

I also ordered a Palio with the Burlwood finish just hours ago. At first, the Carbon Fiber one seemed the better choice as it has I guess a modern and youthful look to it (I'm 24) but then again the Burlwood one just looks nicer to me. I like wood and, I guess, oriental look so I'm really looking forward to my Palio.
