Last night I smoked the last of my cigars it was a Padron aniversary series. It was a dark beautiful box pressed cigar I used a bullet hole punch and the draw on it was beautiful.
Now my question is-I like to use a hole punch whenever possible but I would like to try one of their 4000 series tonight and was wondering am I going to be missing out on something if I don't use a flat cut on these larger cigars?

An extreme newbie question I know but I do value your opinions.

Thanks in advance

Cut...punch...v-clip...

It's all personal preference. Try all of 'em and see which tastes better to you. That's all that counts.

i have heard from a number of sources that the punch can cause tar to build up (since it's such a small area that the smoke is moving through) and can lead to a less than enjoyable experiance. i have no experiance with this though so cant say for sure if its true or not.

I too enjoy the punch cut, if the cigar has a large ring size sometines i will punch it twice with overlapping cuts.:P

I prefer a punch myself if the cigar is a large gauge and have had no bad experiences, but as Flip Flop says try em all and experiment! A buddy swears by the 45 cut-to each his own!:+

punch is nice and neat.some smokes with an easy draw(the padron k's for eg)seem to have, for me, a better draw when punched.
truth is i cut a little more then 1/2 and punch a little less than 1/2 my smokes.
whatever works for you.good question.

I always used a punch cutter and thought it to be good for all cigars. I have since been schooled in the ways of the guillotine cut and have never wanted to use any other method since. The quality of my smoking experiences have changed so much, that I can tell with every cigar what I missed with the punch cut. The guillotine cut opens the entire head, with the punch cut it’s constricted. IMHO the guillotine is the best way. You get what the cigar was intended to give --- FULL BODY!

My vote goes to v cut. My experience is that it's least likely to cause damage when cutting flat headed gars. With point headed cigars, I use double guilotine. This combination tactics has worked out very well for me for years. Good lcuk.
