Anyone try these "HONDURAS FINAS" from the thompsons mag?
Are 50 of these sticks for $51.-$59. a deal or a rip?
Is anything out of this mag a deal?

Puffinstuff,

I have had several "second" hand experience with Thompson's stuff. If you are ordering brand names from them, I suppose Thompson's is ok, but their prices still aren't as good as JRs or Egars. Thompson's own brand cigars, such as the Honduras Finas, leave a lot to be desired. I would not in any way, shape, manner or form even begin to compare Thompson's Cigars to that of Premium Dominican or ISOM cigars. Remember, when something sounds too good to be true, it probably is.

"IS ANYTHING OUT OF THIS MAG A DEAL?"
Well, that's for you to decide. To give you an example, here you go:

A box of DR Montecristo No. 3's, one of my favorite non-ISOM, sells for $150.00 at Thompsons. At JR's, it sells for $94.00. You be the judge.

There's one or two interesting things in Thompson's catalog. There's a humidor deal I saw with what appears to be a 50 count humi and 5 each of the following : La Gloria Cubana, CAO Brasilia, Perdomo 2, Punch & La Flor Dominicana 2000 Series. These all look to be robustos or Rothschild sizes. The whole kit is $79.95

Actually in the photo, the CAO Brasilia is a beli.

Probably not a total rip off.Consider what the smokes would
cost retail and then think about the total price of the deal.
25 smokes x $3 = $75. Your getting a humi pretty cheap, if it
is any good.(i.e seals well) Even it it was junk you still
got the smokes.

[updated:LAST EDITED ON Jun-12-02 AT 02:18 PM (CDT)]I'm going to have to disagree a bit with you on this one, rkt. A humidor that is junk can be a pain in the neck up until the time you determine it's junk. A functional, relatively inexpensive humidor is not that hard to come by. I would rather do a little checking and get one that's going to work fairly well, than be dinking around with one that ultimitely proves to be a dud. I could be wrong, but twenty-five premium cigars plus a humidor for $79.99 sounds like heartache to me.

I agree. I was meaning that if the humi turned out to
be junk, $3.19 per cigar is still not too much if you
consider retail prices. If the humi was good well that
was just a bonus.

I would stay as far away from their cigars as possible!!!! Just not to my liking.

Although the humidors are a different story. I recently purchased the windsor combo and have been surprised at its quality. Very low maintence and keeping my sticks at a nice 70%.

Thompsons suck - you can't polish a turd so why bother trying?

They have the highest prices I've seen on cigars--way higher than most of the other internet sources. I agree that their humidor prices are competative, but not the cigars.
