Greetings everyone! I have been searching for a cool cigar board to hang out at and this one seems to be the best of the bunch. I hope there is room in the jungle for one more neophyte that is just beginning his cigar education. :D
I have smoked the occasional cigar over the years but have just recently decided to take it the next level and become a knowledgeable smoker of fine cigars. Over the past week I have Googled up dozens of cigar resources on the 'Net and have dove head first into learning as much as possible about this newly embraced hobby of mine.
The most important things I think I have learned so far are:
1) I don't know squat about cigars. You folks do and that's why I am here. I respect your knowledge and appreciate any help you may directly or indirectly provide me in the future.
2) Swisher Sweets, Backwoods, Black & Milds, etc. are NOT cigars!
3) Cigar smoking is about much more than just smoking cigars.
4) My credit card will NEVER be the same again!
Over the past few weeks I have been visiting my local Tinder Box and purchasing a variety of different cigars to get a feel for what I do and don't like. This morning I smoked a Padron 5000 over coffee and really enjoyed it.
By becoming an active member of this board I hope to gain enough knowledge to make a good purchasing decision on my first humidor, increase both my knowledge and appreciation of the cigars I choose to smoke, and perhaps even make a few friends along the way.
One day I hope to have an opportunity to try my first Cuban cigar but I'm in no rush. Right now I am thoroughly enjoying myself with what is readily available locally.
Well, that's enough about me for now. I look forward to getting to know you all and hope that in some way I can positively contribute to this fine community.
