I hope this isn't an old subject--I just wondered if you will relight a day or two old "butt" as I will? Someone(I think it was Rush) said to just seal your lips to the head and blow thru the cigar two or three times. This expels the old, stale, bitter air. Then light it up and enjoy a still pretty decent smoke. I know, I know, that doesn't sound very appetizing but if it was a decent cigar to begin with, it will still be good--right down to the last 1/2".

i make sure i can smoke the whole thing before i light it-
if i ever have to leave a cigar and come back to it, i'll
only relight it if it's been a few minutes, say 10 to 15 at
the most. i can't go near a cigar that's been out for more
than an hour. stanky! x(

Well, despite my "snob" image I have done this myself. Especially years ago I had an old Chevy Caprice Classic with a real ashtray. I liked Partagas #10's at the time and would never smoke anything smaller. I would light one up and then just leave it in the ashtray. Whenever I got back in the car I would re-light it, even if it was a day or two later. Ceratinly not the optimal way to enjoy a fine cigar, but as with most things if it works for you then screw anyone else.

I will re-light only if it been under 1 Hr. and it's no less than half smoked. If I go into a store and leave a 1/4 smoked Havana in the tray, you bet I'm gonna light that bad boy back up.
I do use the blow out method after I have removed every bit of white ash and toasted the foot. I blow 3-5 times before I take the first puff. I use this method also every time I light a cigar, it does make a difference. I have found that the effect is no different then when you even out, or even re-light after 30 sec. of being out. I really think if done properly you can save a cigars true flavor. This has been my experience.:-)
