Just saw Reservoir Dogs for first time. Interesting, but I'm not sure I get the hype.

Mr. Blonde is the best though, and Mr. Pink was a crackup.

Did ya notice that no one actually shoots Nice Guy Eddie at the end? He just fell down!!

"Are ya gonna bark all day, little doggie, or are ya gonna bite?"

I loved it, but then again I like all of Tarentinos movies:rolleyes: I think its more of a cult classic than a mainstream hit, Mr. Pink was great at the end huh, at least one of them was smart LOL

nice. I think it was on the dvd extras that Tarantino explains his love of dialogue and why he liked this script so much. For him, it seems, it was all about the dialogue and the interaction of the characters like a russian play.

The unshot guy was apparently a mistake, they call those something but I forget...

He also said he deliberately did the ear-surgery off camera for more effect, a la Hitchcock...

neat movie.

I didn't get the hype either. A bunch of my buds thought it was so great, I finally got around to seeing it last year and was a little dissapointed. To each his own!

i own the dvd ... great movie except for harvey cantact. the hype is due to the fact that it's his first film (pretty sure of this) and shows depth and creativity in the character development.

other notable first films are "she's got to have it" by spike lee and kevin smith's "clerks"

Try My Best Friend's Birthday (1987) :D

Robmcd is right, this was his first film thus the reason for all the hype.

interesting... ok- let's say dogs was his first full movie ... i'm sure QT made some home movies too.... grandma puts her teeth in and so on... ;)

To those who wonder how I discovered My Best Friend's Birthday (much like with Kevin Smith's student film I reviewed), I found this video on ebay, and it was definitely worth the money despite the deteriorated quality of the copy. This is filmmaker Quentin Tarantino's first independently funded film, and from what was assembled (the film wasn't completed and this can be seen since a couple of plot points are left un-answered at the end of 40 minutes) I can tell that it was one of those well-intentioned (if slight) signs-of-things-to-come.

Can't act?! He looks like he was born for this type of role. I can almost picture him behaving like this off camera. At least he hasn't pussed out like DeNiro recently (Analyze What?!).

harvey is like a domestic - 1 dimensional... he's always the same.

Harvey one-dimensional. I think they have a name for that- "character actor"? Or is that when an actor can get into any character? Either way I agree with you, but think that role had his name all over it.

DeNiro as a comic... Funny thing is, my friends and I were asking people what role comes to mind first when you say DeNiro, and for this 'dramatic' actor the role most people said was from 'Meet the Parents' From Taxi Driver to Focker.

ok- harvey was pretty good in that olsen twins movie ... :D

(oh yeah... he's not as bad as so-and-so isn't a stunning recommendation)

Just like Ah-nold (he=man musclehead), Bruce Willis (rogue) and Sandra Bullock (non-sex best friend).

Maybe they should all be in a movie together.

If you liked this flick check out Lock, Stock, and Two Smoking Barrels. This movie is funny and less twisted. I enjoyed it more.

Res Dog is great in that, like all Tarantino movies, it has great one liners.
