Sounds like a text book, but doesnt read like one. Well written by Paul Johnson from a non-traditional point of view. It covers from 1580 up until around 1997. If nothing else, it is great to read the part on JFK. It was a very new way of looking at his presidency for me since most of what I know has been fed to me by the mainstream media and, ugh, history professors. My father has long disliked JFK, but this book gave some very good cited info on Joe Sr.'s bootlegging as well as JFK's ineptitude from Harvard to DC.
Pulls no punches and gives a ton of information from the correct (aka right) point of view.
