all right so review still sucked :tg
good review.
i'm inspired to go drink a stout and have a pipe... but what tobacco? i might go for something different tonight, maybe something someone has sent me recently.. like one of those Ashton Virginia blends that smokinmojo sent me. :D

edit:
Ashtons Brindle Flake (http://www.tobaccoreviews.com/blend_detail.cfm?ALPHA=B&TID=9) (i guess it's actually made by KC based company, McClelland). yes, <--- that is a link to other reviews.
i can't say much more than they have.
i had always heard of the "ketchup" smell of McClellands Virginia's, and this was my first experience.
semi rubbed out flakes, so you have to finish the job. since Rattrays Hal o' the Wynd was my first VA that i've tried, i compare most everything to it. the Rattrays smells of raisins in the tin though.
the Ashton/McClellands was pretty tough, as in the flakes were harder than i'm use to (not dry, just stiff).
so, i pulled the flakes apart to the thickness of what Hal o' the Wynd is like and packed my bowl, only this stuff was harder to pack due to the stiffness.
took me 3 lights to get 'er going, but boy was it going! some serious expansion on the 3rd light, and the entire bowl was a glow.
in those reviews, most mention this stuff having serious tongue bite, but i didn't experience that. i tried to smoke slow, and i had "dry stout" to drink, which has its own tongue bite ;) . so, i don't know, i didn't have much, if any, tongue bite.
flavor was more of what Hal o' the Wynd gives, which is good, because that is some seriously mild stuff. it's got it's tangy zest that'll get your lips/tongue tingling (not biting), and some smokey notes deep down in there you have to find.
this stuff wasn't as smooth as the Rattrays, especially when blown out the nose.
anywho - very good stuff. if you could combine how Hal o' the Wynd comes in the tin, how easy that is to pack, with the extra ooomph of flavors that Brindle Flake provides, you'd have a killer virginia.
i like it. i like taking the flake apart, it's a ritual i'm starting to enjoy.
