I finally get enough palate under me to feel confident to do justice to a bit of a review. Also this is the first tobac that has startled me enough to want to comment about it specifically.

Now for the review.........WOW!!!! :pp
This really caught my attention right from first light. 1st thing I got was a pure mild Burley thru the first 4 puffs or so. Then what I have to assume was perique poked it's head up (I say assume cuz I've never yet had anything with much perique as far as I know). It was slighty sweet with a nice pickled spiciness, but it was very complimentary to the Burley. Then about 1/3 bowl the flavor gradually morphed from Burley/Per to a VA hinted with Latakia...just a mild, musky, cool VA smoke. Very nice so far.

At 1/2 bowl the Perique (?) made itself known big time, but not in an overbearing way. (I loved it but I will venture that if you don't like Perique I doubt you will like this) The rest of the bowl was very nicely spiced and seemed to alternate between Perique fronting for a VA and then for a Burley 2 or 3 times for the remainder. All the while the Perique was prominent yet well-balanced and for that 2nd half bowl there was always what seemed to be a stabilizing Latakia/oriental "hint". I have seen other reviews that claim the orientals could have a cooling effect...and this feels like it could be the case.

Again, this is my first review and I KNOW I can't pick out flavors and nuances like the pros, but I found Bayou Night to be fairly complex and ever-changing without being schizophrenic. If I get a different opinion as I go thru this tin I will come back and update. This was a nice cool and dry smoke with no tongue bite, other than that perique tickle, as far as I can tell.

Oh yeah, if you want a buzz this here is your weed. Fairly decent nic kick, :al rivaling C&D's Bailey's Front Porch, IMO.
