This tobacco so far as I've searched is only available from cigarleaf.com in bulk form. It is noted as being "A rich, full Oriental Mixture........." which ..."is stout with Latakia yet enough naturally sweet Virginia is present to balance the blend". This is a dark mixture for the most part being black and dark brown with a touch of medium brown tobaccos. It is loose cut and falls into your bowl beautifully and also packs nicely. Its a might difficult to keep lit at first but once you get it going it stays lit fairly well. Its has, in my opinion, a nearly perfect mix of Latakia and Virginias and its difficult for me to say which is the prevailing element. The VAs are rich and smooth, clinging to your tongue and the backs of your teeth while the thick smokiness of Latakia settles more in the back and to the roof of your mouth. The room note is also smoky, but rich and pleasant and in the bag Howling Wolf smells beautifully. I'm a bit limited in what I know about this type of tobacco because when I began smoking I hit two homeruns back to back with Howling Wolf and SGs Balkan Flake and felt no need to further expand my horizons so far as VA/Latakia blends went. The two are very similar, with HW being the sweeter and slightly less smoky of the two and it is a bit less potent. If you are into crumble cut I would recommend this. If you prefer flake, go with the Balkan. Both are a great smoke, especially for those who favor a thick, heavy flavor complimented by sweet Virginias.
