    Tabaco Baez

So I tried my first Tobaco Baez made by Don Pepin the other day. I got a fiver and let em rest for several days before trying one; curiosity got the best of me, after smoking it, I probably should have waited a little longer. The pre light smell of the tobacco was excellent; sweet, and almost...

    Tobacos Baez ??

Thanks for all of your replies. I already have a fiver on the way, and wanted to get some skinny on the sticks. I will have to see for myself. I trust the BOTLs and SOTLs in here for their opinions, and wanted to get a read on them before they arrive. I knew it was a bit of a risk because Pepin...

    Tobacos Baez ??

This is a new smoke by Pepin Garcia. Does anyone have any info on it? I know it has a Connecticut wrapper and Nic tobaccos but, that is about all. I havent seen a review on one and, I am curious.

    Pepin Question

I have liked all of the smokes Pepin makes, and have found they are each different in their own right; it illustrates his versatile blending skill. I agree, the Vegas Cubana is one of the mildest cigars he makes. I didnt care for it too much at first, because i was expecting his usual bite in...

Has anyone else noticed that most Pepins have fragile/thin wrappers?

I have had issues with a lot of the cigars I get in general. I have had less problems with Pepin smokes than many others, but I have had some. I figure it has more to do with me than with the cigars themselves. If I have draw problems or plugged smokes it is due to the cigar and the way it is...

Whats your favorite new discovery cigar of 08?

Casa Royale, a Pepin Garcia blend made for Holts. A good smoke with a lot of potential. I smoked one a week ago cuz I couldnt wait; curiosity got the best of me. It was good, with a lot of upside. Additional time at rest will only improve it.

    Pepin Garcia Cuban Classic

This has not been my experience with the Pepin Cuban classic at all. I have had several different vitolas of this type and found them to be excellent, and without any problem with construction at all.

    La Floridita Toro Maduro (Bundle)

I have the Maduro and have had no complaints.

Rocky Patel OWR & Edge- Same Cigar?

While you may have tasted similar flavors in the two, they are definitely not the same blend. I have had both, numerous times. The Edge is stronger, less complex, less chocolatey and less smooth than the OWR.

    Dutch East India, Ltd Churchill

Uh Craig, good call. Since this thread was first written, I got my order in, had a few, and they didnt get any better. In fact, they were downright awful:pu I may have a few left way down in the darkest corner of a makeshift coolerdor. I havent looked at em in over a year. Besides, you can't...

Cigar value. Quality vs. marketing, packaging etc

For me, I have pretty much run the gamut of cigar purchasing and smoking. When I first started buying cigars I didnt have a clue, and bought a few from a local B&M and got some good advice from a guy there. That helped a lot, and established for myself what I would and wouldn't pay for smokes. I...

    Casa Royale

I agree with this idea. I love Pepin's blends and have come to learn that each are excellent smokes in their own regard; different than each other but, very good. So, I expect they will be well made, will burn well, will be spicey within the first inch, and will show complexity in the second and...

    CS going downhill?

I haven't noticed what you have recently, and I do not feel that CS is suffering any degradation at all; it is still a place I come to online when I have some spare time. I have noticed over the time I have been a member is that every now and then some members tend to "go off" on each other. I...

    Crisis Barely Averted!

Brings up images of a cartoon I saw when I was a kid....the tough puggish dog with the bowler hat and short tight sweater covering his top half, with a stogie sticking out of the side of his mouth. Later on, he gets the crap ripped out of him by a panther in an alley which he thought was a...

Cigars Worth Smoking To The Nub

I smoke any cigar that tastes good to me to the nub. If it sucks I put it out. For me though, mostly Pepins, Padrons, Opux X's etc etc (but only if they taste good) :tu

    ***What are you aging***

I try to put away anywhere from 3 to 5 smokes (CC or Non CC) to age. Although it is tough to keep my hands off em, it is worth it.

    Taboo lost my trust.

The thread title threw me off but, after reading I figured out what you meant. What Rob did is great! It goes a long way to establish his reputation in business but, also as a friend.

    DPG Blue Label

These are good smokes. I am sorry to hear you didn't find them as complex as they can be. My experience has been the opposite though, but that is probably because I let em rest for several months before smoking them; I find it makes a big difference.

    New Pepin Exclusive For Holts...

I got the same impression from what was written in the catalogue about the La Casa Royales. They called the Nic. SG wrapper "rare" and it said it is the same wrapper used for the Tat Black. Sounds yummy:dr

Box of one of my new "I like" coming my way.....

Strangely enough, I am in a similar place. I haven't completely lost my attraction for cigars but, the CC's seem less of an attraction to me. OTOH, I am re-dedicating myself to DPG products and others which I haven't spent much time with. Of course it may have a lot to do with the cold weather...
