How do you decide which cigars you are going to buy for aging and how many boxes of each do you buy and why?

I've just bought 10 x Opus x Perfection N.5 at great expense (I hate UK tobacco taxes) from a 2005 box. The dealer told me that aging NON-cuban cigars makes no difference to the flavour etc...:confused::confused::confused: Is that true?
