601 Blue Label Robusto

Due to the generosity of Glacierman, I smoked my first 601, a Blue Label Robusto. As many of you might know, due to my "conservatism" (doesn't that sound much better than "tightwadedness"?), this is a cigar that I would not have purchased for myself.

The 601 clipped easily and was a well made, attractive cigar. When I first clipped it several weeks ago, the draw was a bit tight so I dry boxed it. I smoked it yesterday and, though the draw was still a bit tight, it smoked very well and the draw loosened up as I smoke my way through it.

I'm not too good in describing flavor profiles and, quite frankly, I kind of "got into" smoking the cigar and didn't really take notes. The cigar tasted great, start to finish, and the flavor really picked up for me beyond the half way point. I nubbed it and it smoked great right up to the end. It did require a few touch ups but that's no big deal. The cigar lasted 2 1/2 hours.

This was one of the better cigars I've smoked in quite awhile and, if I can get a little "extra work", I'll probably treat myself to a few. The highest priced cigars I have in my stash are the Partagas Black Label Clasicos at around $3.40 so paying $6.50 for a cigar is hard for me to do but, by golly, I'm worth it:)

Thanks, Richard.

They are a treat aren't they? I have some more settling down in the humidor and will be interested how aging effects them. Thanks for sharing your experience with these little gems.
