601 - Mi Barrio

mikey burr

Maturing Primate
Just got this smoke today from a co-work at the B&M i work at, who just came back from the IPCPR in Las Vegas. the shop is a little slow today and decided to do a mini review for you guys... heres some info on the smoke...

Length: 7 1/12 in.
RG: 52
Wrapper: Nic Habano
Binder/Filler: Nic/Esteli/Jalapa

this smoke has a nice dark tan wrapper with some visible veins throughout this smoke. the cigars feels a little under fillers to the touch. and is topped off with a nice triple cap. i decided to skip a cut from the good ol' palio and went with a punch on this bad boy...draw is a little too easy might have to smoke this sucker slow. pre-light draw i could pick up some nice spice on the palate and lips. toasted the foot took my first draw...tons of smoke and a good amount spice and woody flavors. the ash is white and flaky and fell off on its own at about an inch into the smoke session. the same spice and woody flavors is present throughout the smoke with no major flavor changes. flavor and power mellows out the further you get down..overall i was kind under-whelmed with this cigar. being a big big 601 fan i'm hoping when this smoke is out on regular production it'll be better

I came back from a trip and found a box at the B&M. I was wondering if anyone else has had the chance to try these?

I think I will try one later today, and I think James (Jamesb3) will join in too.

Have dived into the 601 Mi Barrio. So far so good. Definitely has a spice and woodsy flavor on the palette. Ash did fall off at about the inch mark. A very nice white and black ash. Am also tasting a slight ceder flavor. Cigar has a very easy, to easy of a draw. Produces plenty of smoke. Does smoke very fast. This cigar is medium bodied with a great finish. No harsh after taste or bitterness. Also getting some hints of nuts. The wrapper is very nice, almost rustic in it's appearance with the amount of veins in it.

Moving into the 2nd 3rd of the cigar the nut flavor has moved to the front, backed by the wood and cedar flavor. This is and incredibly enjoyable cigar. Exactly what one comes to expect from a Don Pepin Garcia cigar. Flavor is remaining consistent and enjoyable. Am smoking cigar slowly to enjoy every moment. Have had to touch up cigar once so far. Other than that burn has been even.

Am now into the last third of cigar and already know that I will be nubbing it. Flavor has remained very consistent with only a slight increase in intensity. Have not had to purge cigar as there is still no burn or harsh after taste. Wish this could be said for all cigars I have smoked. At almost $15.00 a stick some may find it a tad bit high but IMHO it is worth every penny.

So at the end of my review within' a review I would rate this cigar a 94/100. It is a cigar I highly recommend and look forward to the future releases of this line. That's my more than :2.
