a half of a cigar

I clear (blow the smoke out of) my cigar when I set it down. That way if it goes out and I have to relight, it doesn't taste like a wet ashtray. Some cigars taste even better when they taste like wet ashtray, so it can also be a plus. :tu

When I first started smoking I would smoke half a cigar and then relight it and finish it the next day. I didn't notice any bad taste at the time, but now I really think a cigar is terible after it goes out and sits more than an hour or two.

There was something in CA about "purging" a cigar if you knew it was going to be out for a while. You would blow through it 2-3 times, and then let it go out. The person describing this suggested leaving it outside but covered (so it wouldn't get wet with dew, I assume). Supposed to be good as new . . . but I'm not sure I believe it.

I don't believe it. I have purged many times and while I can generally re light it, and be OK with it, I can definetly tell its not the same as it was before it went out. I don't put much stock in ANYTHING that CA says anymore.

No problem here, for instance I started a RP vintage 92 this morning on the way to work and finished it up about 9 hours later and other then being a little bit harder in touch it seemed find to me. Just another case of to each his own I guess. I work way to hard to pay for these things to be throwing them away all willy nilly because it went out or I didn't have time to finish it. Just my 2 cents:tu

does smoking the other half of a cigar the next day not taste as good or is it just me ?

Question, did you cut the cigar before you lit it or did you put it out and relight the cigar the next day? (Never relight a cigar, bad news).

I grimaced as I read that thread. That is one reason I am becoming partial to smaller ring guage smokes. I want to make sure I have time to finish them.

If you do this I recommend not telling anyone (I found out the hard way as seen in the thread below):

Click on the above thread and you will find out that it's not the proper thing to do for many reasons.:2

Thanks to the brothers who set me straight. :tu

If it sites for 5 or more min - I just light up a fresh one for reasons noted above...

You really only have to make that mistake of relighting once. It sends chills up my spine to even think of it.
