A Little Background & Request To The Jungle

A big Thank You goes out to Rob of Taboo Cigars for donating 25 cigar V-Cutters.

Not only does he carry one of my favorite line of cigars but he's also a very generous guy. If you haven't tried the Taboo line of cigars, I highly recomend trying them. They are that good.

No I'm not affiliated with Taboo but I wanted to make this statement anyway.

Just like all other contributions, this one is also very greatly appreciated.

Thanks Rob.

Cheers,
Rob

Thank you sir, I salute and thank you. I know I've said this already but if it wasn't for all the great BOTL, like yourself and others, I never could have gotten this project started.

I am so proud to be part of this fantastic community. There are so many fantastic and caring people here that it's really very heart-warming for me.

Regards,
Rob

Robert, you have a package of 'TOPPER TCPE OLD FASHIONED PERFECTOS' coming in from JR's to send. Have a great weekend...:ss

David G. I just wanted to post and let you know that your package arrived safe and sound. Thank you so much for your generosity.

Now, as soon as I can figure out which screen name goes with your real name I will PM you.

Just wanted to post publicly and say thanks.

Cheers,
Rob

Update:
As much as I would like to keep this collection going untill I need an 18 wheeler to deliver all the donated stogies I'm planning on sending the stogies off to their final destination towards the first half of Februrary.

So I'm going to have to stop taking donations on the last day of this month. So if someone were to contribute some cigars on the 31'st I'd obviously wait the few days it would take for them to arrive.

I may do another one of these collections in the future but this first one ends on the 31'st of January....

Thank you to everyone who has already contributed, the stogies will certainly raise the spirits of the Polish Coalition Troops. :tu

If anyone would like to contribute I would greatly appreciate it.

Cheers,
Rob

Mr. Maduro,
I just recieved your package for the troops and I really appreciate it. Tampa Sweethearts certainly are a great choice as just about everyone likes them.

My guess is that a few of the troops will be noobs to cigars and the Sweethearts are a great stick to cut their teeth on.

Much appreciated.

Cheers,
Rob

Got a couple of packages today of assorted stogies. Just need to send out thanks to a couple of wonderful BOTL's.

Pictures and updates coming soon.

Cheers,
Rob

I got a package out to you yesterday. I don't have the DC on me right now but it's on its way. The smokes aren't the best but they are decent and there are allot of them.

Thanks a million. Really it's greatly appreciated and I'm sure the troops will love this ever growing care package.

Like I said, I plan on getting this out to them in the first ten days of Feburary and if all goes well they should have them by the end of that month.

Cheers,
Rob

I just watched the Oscar Nominated movie "Katyn" about the thousands of Polish POW's that were executed in Katyn forest under direct orders of Stalin.

It was a very well made film and captured the "feel" of the time very well. I was finally seeing what my father told me about. He was a very young boy at the time but he remebered so much that it brought tears to his eyes.

That's why he wanted to work for the U.S.A against the Communists. Now my Grandfather didn't die at Katyn, he died on the battlefield but a relative of mine did die at the Katyn killing grounds.

It was a very tough film for me to watch, it brought tears to my eyes as well as my dad's and made me feel very patriotic towards what should have been my homeland.

When I visit Poland I will take the trip to the Katyn sight and I plan to drop a few drops of my blood to mix with that soil.

That's the past and this cigar collection for the Polish Troops is the present and I just want you guys to know I could NOT have done this without you. You've been the lifeblood of this project and I am in your debt. Thank You.

For those of you who haven't heard of the Katyn story here is a very good description from Wikipedia:

"The Katyn massacre, also known as the Katyn Forest massacre (Polish: zbrodnia katyńska, literally 'Katyń crime'), was a mass execution of Polish citizens ordered by Soviet authorities in 1940.[1] Estimates of the number of dead range from 15,000[2][3] to 21,768.[4] The victims were murdered in Katyn forest, Kalinin (Tver) and Kharkiv prisons and elsewhere.[5] About 8,000 of the victims were officers taken prisoner during the 1939 invasion of Poland, the rest being Polish citizens who had been arrested for allegedly being "intelligence agents, gendarmes, spies, saboteurs, landowners, factory owners, lawyers, priests and officials."[4] Since Poland's conscription system required every unexempted university graduate to become a reserve officer,[6] the Soviets were thus able to round up much of the Polish intelligentsia, as well as the Jewish, Ukrainian, Georgian[7] and Belarusian intelligentsia of Polish citizenship.

The term "Katyn massacre" originally referred to the massacre at Katyn Forest, near villages of Katyn and Gnezdovo (about 19 km west of Smolensk, Russia), of Polish military officers confined at the Kozelsk prisoner-of-war camp. It is applied now also to the simultaneous executions of POWs from geographically distant Starobelsk and Ostashkov camps,[8] as well as executions of political prisoners from West Belarus and West Ukraine,[9] shot on Stalin's orders at Katyn Forest, at the NKVD (Narodny Komissariat Vnutrennikh Del) headquarters in Smolensk, at a Smolensk slaughterhouse,[1] as well as at prisons in Kalinin (Tver), Kharkiv, Moscow, and other Soviet cities.[4]

The 1943 discovery of mass graves at Katyn Forest by Germany, after its armed forces had occupied the site in 1941, precipitated a rupture of diplomatic relations between the Soviet Union and the Polish government-in-exile in London. The Soviet Union continued to deny responsibility for the massacres until 1990, when it acknowledged that the NKVD secret police had in fact committed the massacres and the subsequent cover-up.[4][10] The Russian government has admitted Soviet responsibility for the massacres, although it does not classify them as war crimes or as acts of genocide, as this would have necessitated the prosecution of surviving perpetrators, which is what the Polish government has requested.[4][2] It also does not classify the dead as the victims of Stalinist repressions, in effect barring their formal posthumous rehabilitation."

Wow, i just saw this.

My grandfather basically raised himself from 5 years old over there. Was able to do well-enough to bring his family here. My dad spent his whole life serving the USA in the Navy, and working to bring Polish and US military relations closer. It's absolutely true that Poland is one of our greatest allies, in alot of quiet ways. I would say their loyalty, and perhaps their resources too, equal or exceed that of Israel or England. They are more pro-american than most americans I know. :tu

PM me an address, i'd love to send something along.
