Advice on "Nubbing" a cigar

I have not yet been able to smoke a cigar down to its nub. Usually they are too moist, and have trouble staying lit...so do you guys have any tips?

So far, i've seen ucubed, pull a fobulous one and use these:

If you have a set of Allen wrenches (Hex Keys) you can use the smallest one. Poke the long end into the cigar while the short end acts as a handle!:2

Dude, chopsticks are awesome! Am I the only guy that has a specific pipe set aside for nubbing? Gets too hot, pop it in the pipe and finish it off.

Xikar multi tool. Has a little metal toothpick thing in there. Stab cigar with it and the tool fits very nicely in your hand while you smoke.

These could work well... a little lacey, but I might pick one up if I can find a few cigars which are worth smoking down that far.

Haha, that's fantastic. I love it. I couldn't really imagine being seen using them, but they're f-in' cool. I think I'd probably only use the two smallest ones - sticking a 50-56 RG cigar in one of those would look kind of ridiculous, no? Unless there was one that could fit a Nub - that'd be pretty awesome, methinks. It'd be so comical looking it would be totally worth it.

In other news, I don't ever really nub cigars. Most of the cigars I've smoked got gnarly tasting before they burned my fingers...

It used to be fashionable for men to have cigarette holders, but the Breakfast At Tiffany's changed that. Men like FDR, Tennessee Williams, Hunter S. Thompson and Captain Hook (though his was a double holder to smoke two cigars at once can you say BADASS?) used to use one.Source: Wikipedia.

If you could get 10-15 more minutes out of a smoke, I think it would be worth it. Plus the material would age and turn a deeper color, which is cool.

Aye, cigarette holders are/were cool, but I don't think I've ever really seen or heard of a cigar holder. Those are pretty friggin' sweet though. If I had the money...good thing I can't find the price on that page :D

Ahh here is the link for the smooth ones with prices too http://www.tobacco-barn.com/p-7841-cigar-holder-smooth-hand-carved-meerschaum.aspx

Not too bad, under 10 bucks each, cheaper if you don't buy the case... maybe you and I should start the trend. That way it will be cool again.
