Any cigars you think you had too early in your cigar 'career'?

Yes sir........COHIBA TORO in an aluminum tube.

Received it as a " now that's a cigar" after I had been smoking Black N Mild's for a couple of weeks and not knowing ANYTHING about the cigar world.

I ewe'd and ah'd the entire smoke.

I think I'll have my second this weekend.

Not so much. But when trishield, GTS21 and Bobby Ritz are involved I always seem to get involved in puff, puff passes or "here take this home and try its" where the sticks invovled are just mindblowing. Mostly its been these guys with the occasional assist from N3uka and Smokingmachinist that have really stoked my interest in Cubans.

I remember when I first started smoking cigars, grabbing an LFD cant remeber which one, but having no idea what I was smoking I it light up with a cup of coffee on an empty stomach.... Bad move.

I've since learned that a full bodied cigar has its place, I prefer a full bodied cigar, just not for Breakfast.

Well, I have been smoking the same 4 - 5 for the past year and a half. So still a noob. Past few months have seen me branching out a tad. I just smoked my first Rocky Patel. Now, either I can't appreciate it and I need a little more seasoning, it just isn't my type of smoke, or it may have just been a bad one. I have 2 more in the humi, I may go another in a month or two and give it a fresh start.

Which Rocky Patel did you smoke? One RP that is a good introduction smoke is the Vintage 1990. Isn't too complex and the spice is mild but very flavorful :ss

I'd Have to say for me it was a Cuban QdO.
When my parents first moved to Florida a number of years ago. I did a favor for a buddy of my Dad's. My Dad called me a few days later and said the guy was very thankful and wanted to send me a couple of cuban cigars. Cool I thought because in my infancy of cigar smoking I had not tried a real cuban. When the package showed up it was a few QdOs. Looking at them strangely I called my Dad to tell him that these were not cuban beacause they were not cohibas or montecristos. He said that his buddy said they were cuban and I should just shut up and smoke them.:r

I did and they were great, but in the back of my head I still had that mindset
that only Cohibas and Montes were true cubans. I have yet to have another
QdO since those first few many moons ago.

great story, had my first QdO yesterday and it was awesome.

The first cigar I ever really smoked was a cuban Cohiba while I was on deployment in Souta Bay Crete. I remember it being very very good and creamy. Which was to my surprise a trait of good tobacco after I got into smoking. So, I enjoyed the experience and took my time with the smoke.
The other cigar that I smoked early on was a partagas 150 that my dad gave me. I held onto it for what I thought was a long time (3 months) and figured "hell, by now it's already been resting for at least 10 years" not to mention the age of the tobacco before it was rolled. And good cigars are meant to be smoked so. It was probably one of the top 3 cigars experiences I can remember having had. It lasted about 2 hours.... But prior to that there were several a had lifted from my dad that I just burned right thru or did not finish. I know one was a punch. I remember thinking HOW THE HELL does he smoke these all the time?!? Well after having great cigars early on in my life I found how great the EXPERIENCE can be. And to stick through ones that might start off bad.

I did the same thing, but with the opposite effect. I smoked an Opus last summer or fall. I'm here because of that one cigar. Not saying I won't enjoy it more later, but that was really the first cigar I ever smoked that didn't leave me wanting to lick a cat's back the next day to get the taste out of my mouth. Perhaps one reason is that I actually savored it. It took me over two hours to smoke that sucker. Can I have another please? hehe

I smoked an Opus X right when I started smoking and that wasn't the best idea. I smoked it in the sweltering heat of July on an empty stomach when the cigars I had smoked previous to it were like Macanudo Hyde Parks and what not. Big mistake.

a god of fire lovley cigar that i have a box of there robustos but i do wish i had waighted a little longer and enjoyed it more

My first cigar I ever smoked was given to me by my grandfather, a Padron 3000 Maduro. I was sixteen and not ready for it at the time.

The cigar that stands out in my mind that I tried, it got great reviews, but I didn't really care for it was the Ashton VSG Illusion. I think I will have to watch CBid and maybe pick up a couple of more and try them again.

I'm going to say a Graycliff original red. Not because it was overly powerful, it wasn't. But is was expensive so I almost feel as if it was wasted in me.
It was extremely enjoyable and my favorite smoke so far but I feel like it's much more complex than my noobish smokin' senses can pick out.

Mine was a Trinidad TTT Maduro. A little strong for the fresh initiate who'd only been smoking a couple months on an off and on basis. I felt a bit green around the gills after that one.

This one was a 1992, I also have the 1990. We'll see. I'm not sure it was bad as much as it was just different from what I have been smoking.

a montecristo #2 and a CC cohiba. dont remember what kind of cohiba but i was in mexico. first time smoking a REAL cigar. what a waste but they were so good. i will never forget sitting on the belcony of my hotel watching the sunset over the beach in peurto viarta (spelling?). high 70's mild humidity with that ocean breaze... and my best friend and his gf doing... um... well yea they were in the room enjoying themselves as well...
