Are Tatuaje Blacks History?

I was at my local B&M recently and the guy there who generally seem quite knowledgeable told me that the Tat rep told him that the Tat Blacks would be discontinued and a new exclusive line will be coming out in the future. Similar to the East Coast and West Coast which are no longer available. Did anyone who went to the RTDA in Vegas hear anything about this?

That's not inconceivable for boutique brands like Tatuaje.

Huh. You got my attention. So I take my East Coast "on backorder" from Cigarbid is never going to make it to any coast. ;-)

As to the Tat Blacks, I am as confused as everybody else.

Funny, I just bought another handful of Black Tats and saw two jars walk out the door yesterday.

Pete Johnson was in town several months ago and didn't mention anything about a limited run on these. He is coming back next month, so I will pose the question to him. I do know he has a special classic horror theme release coming this fall, along with expanding some lines with new releases.

Since there were only 19,000 of these made, I would certainly consider them limited run. Pete has not said that the Blacks are gone for good. As for the East/West coast, they are no longer being made, as are the original Cabaiguan Guapos. Tatuaje HQ no longer has any of these sticks in the warehouse.

lucky for me I got a jar and some blacks...however I think they'll just me a limited release thing every once in a while, they sell so well, I don't think he'll stop selling them

This has probably been posted somewhere before, but from my understanding, Pete made a limited run of 1000 jars with 19 cigars per jar (hence the run of 19,000).

The wrapper on these is supposedly rare, so these were made in limited quantites. I think he has some robustos he is giving away at events, but from what I have read they are not planning on making these on a regular basis.

On the Tatuaje website site, it says sold out - along with the East/West and the original Cab Guapo.

The Tatuaje Black is done...for the retail end...it will still be made for Pete when he needs them for himself...only 19,000 were made...It was a limited edition...look forward to the next coming some day soon...I have not heard, nor did he let on, any news of a new Tatuaje LE coming....but expect it to be AWESOME!

yup, that's consistent with what i heard. get them while you can. it's a smoke to remember.

I talked to Pete at the show. He said there are no more Blacks. His new line, the Riqueza, will be in shops soon.

I cant see these being the end of them. With the way these have sold I just can't see them stop making htem. It may be in another size but if I was to guess we will see more of these.

A black was my first intro to tatuaje. I've had other tats since but needless to say they aren't as good as blacks.

If you can acquire a few blacks, do it. They are unlike any other NC you might experience. Are they worth $15+ per? I would say yes but at that price point I prefer Padrons.

well if that's the case I might have to buy more of the blacks cause a b&m still carries it. As for the la riqueza my b&m has 3 sizes. They've had it for like 2 weeks already...

On one hand it is good that these will be a limited release and therefore collectors item. On the other hand these are some pretty nice smokes. I have no doubt however that there will be bigger and better things comming to Tatuaje and in a year or so the blacks will have been forgotten and we will be talking about something else. my :2
