B&M's in the charlottsville, va area?

Next weekend (thursday-saturday, maybe sunday) my fiancee and I will be in charlottsville to look at UVA law school and apartments in the area so naturally I figured I'd drop into a local b&m or two and get the lay of the land for where I'm going to be living for the next 3+ years.

So does anyone from the area know of a good shop or two to hit up in the area...and if I can :ss:pp anywhere? I'm not sure what the smoking laws are in VA other then the 10% wholesale tax which doesn't make me happy but hey I can always order online right?

Thanks apes

You could not have chosen a more perfect weekend to come into town. Aficiando's Smoke Shop has two locations and two Perdomo events next weekend! The downtown location at108 4th Street, NE is closest to where you'll be at the law school and is having a "new owner celebration" on Friday evening that the Perdomo rep will be attending and handing out goodies. On Saturday afternoon the Forest Lakes shop which is up Rt. 29 by the airport will be hosting the Perdomo rep for another herfI am a fairly regular at the downtown shop and will definitely be there on Friday. Jim is the new owner of the store and is a great BOTL, Mike is the in house cigar and pipe expert and all around great guy. Ask them if Josh is there, I'd love to meet you and burn one

I'll pm you my cell number so we can meet up if I can get away from the law school. I'm always up for a herf.

I'll be in Madison for the weekend. So i'm up for any herfin action too.

I usually frequent the forest lakes location whenever i drive past (I can never pass up a B&M). They always have something I like there. Whether I want a hemmingway maduro or something cheaper they have it.

oh and as for smoking locations. I don't know any good places in Charlottesville but you can still smoke in bars in VA.

thanks Fontana, I hope I can get away and have a few hours of fun. I've been to two perdomo events here in pittsburgh and had a great time each time

Whatever you do, make sure to grab a drink at the downstairs bar at the C&O. It's my favorite bar anywhere in the U.S.

Re: B&M's int eh charlottsville, va area?

this will be my first time in town...where is that and are there any pubs/dive bars?

C&O is downtown ("downtown" in C'ville is pretty much just one street..!) there are a few other places on the Corner. Both areas are a "fair piece" from the law school, but anyone can point you there. Might try out Durty Nelly's pub or Michael's Bistro, they're both in the same area. I think you can smoke cigars at Michael's, not sure about Durty Nelly's (maybe outside?)

Smoking laws in Virginia? Despite the growing antismoking fervor, tobacco was this colony's first major export and Phillip Morris is HQ'd in Richmond--need I say more? :ss

Re: B&M's int eh charlottsville, va area?

I guess this one is now closed... :ss

They are actually still open. Very nice selection, good prices, just not a good place to smoke like Aficianados. I think they are the main Fuente site for Charlottesville because they tend to get the majority of the Opus and Anejos.

Re: B&M's int eh charlottsville, va area?

So do you have to wear a coat and tie to the B&M's in Charlottsville, or is that just for the football games? ;)

My friends and I have a saying, "old guys - no ties". I haven't worn one since the last home game I attended as an undergrad in 1995. You'll probably remember that game, Drunkenmiller torched us on a late TD to pull even and then Mike Groh (current OC) threw a pick-six for the go-ahead VPI score. The picture in the paper the next day showed our trainer with his leg out in the field as if to trip the VPI defender who was returning it to the house. On the plus side, I had done the Fourth Year Fifth that day so I really wasn't that bothered by the loss :ss

Don't remember the game (I was just starting high school that year) but I definitely know the pic you're talking about. It still makes the rounds each year before the UVA game.

Re: B&M's int eh charlottsville, va area?

Please post these shops in the VA "Where to Smoke in the USA". Thanks! :ss
