Back from Vegas (camera phone cigar pr0n)

Went up Thursday morning with 3 of my friends for the SEMA show in Las Vegas. Came home last night, and I must be getting old because that was way too damn long in Vegas. My apologies in advance for the camera phone pics and to Guitarman for not stopping by!

We stayed at the Strat, and their cigar friendly sports book area was our home for a couple hours at a time. We'd grab a stick, some cups and a growler and head down to have a smoke. The following reviews are based off of memory...and to say that I was drinking during smoking would be an understatement :)

First victim: CAO Brazilia

I thought this one was pretty good, nice and smooth with a great burn and solid flavor. 2nd CAO I've ever had, and it was the best (haha). 3.5/5

Second Victim:
Bolivar something-or-other from a sample pack. No pic :( Burned great and tasted OK for half, then it turned ugly. Incredible bitterness with a little ammonia. Would try an aged one in the future perhaps. 1.5/5

Third Victim:
Partagas something-or-other

This time we moved to an empty section of the casino and played penny slots for 2 hours, or long enough to nub this thing. 1st Partagas, and definately won't be my last. Great burn, even flavor and great construction...even though my crappy cutter got a piece of it. 4/5

Fourth Victim:
Oliva Series V Torpedo, no pic, and oh boy I loved this thing. It cut right through my good beer buzz and quickly gave me a good nico buzz, which was nice :) The fact that these are under $6 is insane. I gotta get more. 4.5/5

Uh oh, looks like Three Card Poker was good to me at some point, so I won't feel guilty buying something here:

Ah Casa Fuente...it's so insanely overpriced...yet worth every penny. I went straight for the caged section, where I had several choices of Opus X and God of Fire sticks. I chose a Opus X Lancero for the low price of $25. By far the most I've ever spent on a cigar (that's a good thing right?)

Alright so on to the pic:

Paired with a Rusty Nail and a water for my drinks, this was a great cigar, and the atmosphere greatly biased my opinion. First lancero for me, nice size and great quick draw of pure white smoke. 4.75/5

If I had more cigars..I don't remember. There's a Fuente maduro missing from my travel case, who knows what happened to that :)

Here's the 5 growlers we took up with us, Big Sky IPA, PB El Robusto Baltic Porter, Great Divide Yeti Imperial Stout, PB Hopfather DIPA, and something else. Then refilled one at the Chicago brewery in the 4 Queens....4 times in one night. Yeah....sorry Dr. Atkins.

Anyways, hopefully next time I go on an out-of-town bender I'll have better pics and reviews, but I had fun and hope you guys enjoy the story!

Looks like you had a great time. I enjoyed every bolivar I have had, I bet your experiance was just a fluke.

Looks like an awesome time! I'm hoping to make it to Vegas some time next summer, as all of my friends should be 21 by then (I'm the oldest of all of them).

Great weekend! Glad the gambool gods were good enough to you to give you a bonus Opus X...mmm. Thanks for sharing....makes me excited to get there again myself. What a great town for cigars (and steak, and...)

Cheers

This place does have great "atmosphere" doesn't it? And the cigars are pretty good too! Went there three times while in Vegas a couple of weeks ago to look at the atmosphere...I mean, to smoke a cigar...:D

I was there all week. Though my dad and I ddnt smoke at all... dads not a big fan of that unfortunaly. The sema Show was sweet too!

Thanks for the excellent account of yr. trip. Now I'm starting to want to up there for a couple of days.

Glad you enjoyed Casa, I had a good time there too. BUT, as you say, it's not a place to go cigar shopping. I try to smoke only aged cigars from my stash, so when I visit Casa I will buy one or two from them, put them away in the bag, and smoke one of my own. When I get home I put the overpriced aquisitions in the aging humi. Cheers, Larry.:)
