I voted for coffee, to my tastes alcohol of any kind always overpowered or detracted from the taste of my cigar.....to each his or her own though......Barry

More often than not these days I'll be drinking left over tea from work (pu-erh all day in a thermos!), Dr. Pepper/Mr. Pibb, or water.

When I was in school, it'd be whiskey and bourbon for my top choice but I'd usually be drinking whatever beer was in the pitcher on the table. Now where'd I put that bourbon?

Coffee is another favorite pairing. I've found it helpful for getting rid of cigar breath too.

I once finished off a day-old bottle of Cooks champagne while smoking a Fuente 858 natural. That was mighty fine.

Cheers!

I love a spicy cigar and a good MOJITO to drink. Aaaaaah that's heaven!

Porto would be my choice. So I voted for wine. Coffee is the second pick. For me, any distilled alcohole heats up the cigar taste and makes it too hot.

I voted for wine at first, if I could vote again it would be coffee :)

Then coke, wine, mix drink, beer :w

Just like smokemifyagotem said, depends if I want to "booze it up"
:al

Yeah, it really does depend on the situation, mood or season. I guess right now it would be:

morning= coffee or tea
mid day= Diet Dr. Pepper or tea. maybe Pellegrino.
after work= Diet Dr. Pepper or Pellegrino. maybe hot chocolate.
after dinner= coffee, espresso or hot chocolate (hey, it's friggin'
cold up here right now).
watching football= Goose Island rootbeer (thanks, Chicago) or
hot chocolate.

Hope some of that doesn't sound too pretentious. Hey, good is good.

I drink coffee and seltzer most times, but yeah, motortown, I've been into hot chocolate this year for some reason. I use the hershey's cocoa and sugar and milk under the steamer, much better than those packets of crap by swiss miss.

"Real Marshmellows"?! That's like a genuine counterfeit, right?
As opposed to the "Imaginary" kind?

I find the same thing with really hoppy beers. I like rounder, more roasty malted beers such as amber ales, porters, or stouts to IPAs if I'm having a cigar.

With cigars, I rarely stray from Sierra Nevada Pale Ale and Porter. There are a lot of second tier hoppy beers out there that don't match the robust-but-never-bitter flavor of the SNs. They are the perfect compliment to a good strong smoke.

Sometimes a glass a Maker's Mark neat.

And of course, coffee, almost any kind, any time.

I tried something new the other night. Hot chocolate w/ cayanne pepper....
I know it sounds crazy, but I saw some show on the food network that featured this chocolate shop that put it in their hot chocolate, so I made a "poor man's" version at home.
Simply added a dash of pepper to the hot chocolate. I actually thought it was pretty good. Not bad with a spicy stogie either.

Any vodka made from potatoes. Also diet vanilla coke.

No coffee, caffeine content is too high, that along with the nicotine gives me too much of a buzz.

Most of the time I drink beer with my cigars. I try and stay away from IPA's when I smoke, although the Dogfish Head IPA's are really tasty.

Usually I go with Guinness or amber ales, something with a good well-rounded flavor.

Recently I had a few cigars with coffee and must say that coffee is running a very close 2nd.

What will I try tonight?

Scotch...with a couple of tablespoons of water.

Coffee with lots and lots of cream.

Sometimes even a tea--like English Breakfast (some stout black tea)

Diet Coke.

Even a nice glass of cool water to refresh the palatte.

Mmmm...

I usually drink a red wine with cigars, particularly earthy, spicy wines from Chile and Argentina (Malbec). I find that a Pinot Grigio can go well with mild cigars but in general white wines don't go well with cigars. I also think that Grand Marnier goes very well with most cigars. If I'm in the mood, an aged rum also works well with stronger cigars
