I picked one of these up on a Don Pepin Binge. This is a short and long filler cigar blended by Pepin; I've heard that the filler is composed of JJ and San Cristobal clippings, but I can't confirm if that's true. It's handmade in Pepin's Nicaraguan factory. Here's the review:
Size: 6x50
Wrapper: Sumatra (Not completely sure; this is a guess. All I know it's Nicaraguan)
Price $3.00
Construction: At first this cigar doesn't look well constructed as the foot is a bit soft. After a good look though, the cigar is well rolled. The wrapper is a dark chocolaty brown that's very smooth and lacks any prominent veins. To add, the cigar didn't tunnel or have any funky problems during a full-fledged thunder storm. 10/10
Burn: At times the cigar would burn very uneven after ashing, but the burn tended to correct itself after a few good draws on the cigar. 9/10
Flavor: Mmm... tasty is the first puff of the cigar. In the first third, I was given a mellow nutty flavor along with a sweet tobacco flavor that ends with a little bit of pepper. The second third retained the nutty flavor that morphed into a more toasted nut flavor; however, the cigar was sans the tobacco flavor and the pepper. It seemed to replace a jalapeño flavor with the pepper. Also, the cigar came to be a little bit lighter in body in the second third. The final third was great as the cigar provided me a more of the nutty flavor along with a drier tobacco flavor than the beginning of the cigar. Also the Pepin pepper reappeared with more intensity, and the cigar became more full bodied. 10/10
Overall 29/30
This is an amazing smoke for only $3.00. I couldn't believe that the cigar was this good for the price. I will definitely get a box of these soon. The fact that the cigar didn't have a problem with the thunderstorm was even more amazing. This is superb.
