Young Ape
B@stard MotherF*cker Beetles!

Reached for a Partagas short last night and noticed a hole in the cap.

Well, I thought it might be just a small tear, so I cut the cap off only to find a beetle larva staring at me (not literally - I don't think they have eyes).

Checked the rest of the box - one stick with definate beetle holes, one possible, the rest (14 of them) looked fine.

They're all in the freezer now, and will stay there for a couple of days.

As to the original stick - well I cut it a bit further down and saw no damage (or larvae), so I smoked it!

Very good it was too.

Rest of my stock seems fine - but I'll be keeping a close eye on it.

So you are the guy that took my usual forum name of Weasel :tg :tu

Sry bout the buggers. Hope the rest of your stock is in the clear after freezing.

beetles, damn beetles, is there anything worse than seeing a several hundred buck stick with beetle holes? I think not! glad the one was smokable and glad ya saved the rest

At least you found it before they ate your whole collection!!! :whew:

How do you store? Just in a humi, cooler, or fridge? What temps are you usually at? Just curious...

I'm also very curious at what temps you have reached in your unit that you are using as a humi, weather it be cooler, regular humi etc. If you know that would be greatly appreciated. I have still been worrying about my stock as it gets to 75 degrees in my house.

Temp is 70-72, but it's a new humidor and I've just transfered the stock to it from a tupperdor.

The tupperdor was in a different room and may have reached temps as high as 78 - which is why I moved things.

The box was purchased in Spain last year - not sure if the B&M had AC though
