CAO Mx2 Review

Roger Miller"

old stogies I have found
Outside of the Brazilia line, i really can't say that i have had a consistently good experience with CAO. Said as much to my local tobacconist, too. I complained about the construction in the Anniversary Line, how, out of the half a dozen or so I smoked, the bulk were poorly constructed and at least one was just unsmokeable.

So, he recommended I give the new Mx2 a try. He must be getting a kick back on these, what could only be euphemistically be called, cigars. Not only did the fillings in my teeth come out, because I had to draw so hard to coax some smoke through this rock, but when I did get some, well let us say, the flavor profile and I did not agree.

I agree. Loved the Brazilia, hated the Mx2. I had no construction problems but it was harsh. Not what you expect from a $5.00 cigar.

first one i had was nasty metallic aftertasting piece of dog turd...
2nd one i had wasn't bad, but it wasn't good either. too much bad aftertaste for me.

i was given one of their anniv maduros, and it wasn't bad. my wife's co-worker, who i had sent a few cubans to, decided to let me try things he likes to smoke (other than the montes i sent him).

I agree the Brazilia is great, but the anni's are not so good. The mx2's also were not that good, buit not bad either.

I'm hoping they are better then you guys say after they sleep a year. Mine are buried deep. Ya got me worried.

The tobacco tasted very young to me. I've got a few stashed for long term storage also. I have a feeling in 12-18 months, these will be pretty nice.

Which Anniversaire have you smoked? the camaroon belicoso is one of my favorite cigars and I can't see how anyone couldn't like them.

Irish, you need to go elsewhere to get your cigars if you spent $10 on an MX2. Highest I've seen them is $5.75 for the Belicoso. I Love 'em, but I wouldn't pay THAT much for them.

I was in Hoboken NJ over the weekend for a herf. I couldn't leave without buying something from the shop. So I bit on something I haven't tried yet. Maybe the closeness of NYC rubs off on Hoboken. It to is the Beli size.

Gotcha. We don't have a cigar tax in Va, so I forget that retail in some states is MUCH higher than it is here.

Enjoy the Beli... GREAT smoke.

Guys....

CAO came to a local cigar shop and had a tasteing event. Well I used the oportunity to try another MX2. What a horrible smoke. I truely did not like this cigar. it was harsh and storng but not like a JdN Antano. It was just bad. However the the Criollo was really good. I would urge you guys to give them a try.

The only MX-2's I've had were aged in my cooler for more than 6 months. They were torpedoe sized (not sure what the actual name is). With some rest time to get the humidity lowered to 65% and allow the tobacco to settle, I thought they were pretty good. Never had one off the truck so .......

I've never had a bad Brazilia. Love the little pirahna's a lot.

i went to a local cigar give away by CAO with kamikaiguy had a criollo and an MX2, the criollo was fantastic but i'm definitly not a fan of the MX2, it was harsh and peppery, not to my liking...i sress the fact to try either criollo or the Brazilia, they are two very good smokes by CAO

I have gotten a few of the MX2 for friends of mine who like a medium to heavy cigar, and this cigar is just really heavy. Anyone else who likes medium or mild is just not going to like this cigar. It has been described to me as being like when you first smoked a cigar, it was big, powerful, and overpowering. If that is part of what you like, then this is for you. Otherwise stay away, it's going to knock your socks off :)

bing the manager at my local shop has its perks, we have the Mx2 Anni lines, criollo, brazillia, and gold lines. Ive tried all of the Mx2 and havnt had a bad one yet, i havnt had any of the tastes youve described so far, maybe im just lucky. The extreme is one of my all time favs, love how the flavor changes etc. the criollo pampa is a great PC, billows smoke and its nice and smooth. Hope you all dont give up on the Mx2 line, there has to be better experiences out there :al

My buddy got back from RTDA last week and when we got together he asked me to try an MX2... it was a about 5" x 46. The cigar was beautiful in appearance and the construction and draw was excellent BUT... the flavor was terrible. It was bitter and I couldn't get past an inch before I had to let it go out. I've heard some good reviews of the MX2 so I'd give it another try but the one I had was awful... :pu

I have a Mx2 back in March and it tasted a little harsh. I let some other sit in the humi until about 2 weeks ago.

I was a torp about 6 x54 roughly. The taste was much better than I remembered. The only problem was this was a power house. Big ol'buzz factor. This made an extreme look like kiddie candy. One of the biggest buzzes I've ever had. I got this thing down to where the middle of the band would be and I was done. Good taste but a powerhouse.

A buddy and I smoke a pair of 6 mos old beli size MX2's. Excellent construction and draw. Medium bodied, one dimensional. Not my cup of tea.
