CAO Vision

Temp Ban for Rules Violation
I tried one of these in the torpedo variety a few months ago and fell in love with it! However....CAO apparently is pushing the sale of this particular cigar by the box/humidor, which can be EXTREMELY expensive. Does anyone think they will increase production and possibly make this fine cigar more accessible to us? I can only find this particular cigar in some of the humidors in Nashville, which is a two-hour drive for me. Any input?

The box prices on the net can be pretty high. I picked up my box of Catalyst for $160 at an Elite cigars here in N. Houston. They don't list them on the web though. Cigars International has them for $192 about the cheapest I've seen online. Sorry I couldn't be of more help.

Kojak,
I see that these smokes come inside of a rather cool humidor/box. Does it work well? And what is the method of humidification that's used?
Do you still keep this inside a humidor/coolidor or do you trust the box to keep the cigars moist?

Thanks for the reply, Kojak.....how do you rate this particular cigar in terms of your favorites?

The vision doesn't make my top ten but I have been noticing improvement with age. Main reason for my purchase was the cool humidor which I mainly use for a display piece and travel humidor. I don't think the box holds humidity very well never got mine above 63% during a recent trip. The lid looks like it doesn't seal very well due to the way it clasps so tightly right above the LCD readout.

I think that the main reason that they are pushing box sales is because those boxes with the neon and humidor capabilities are probably pretty expensive to manufacture. I personally don't like the Vision and think that they made the box so nice and hyped it up because they knew that the cigar itself fell short of their expectations. Just my 2 cents.

I like the Visions. Don't think they lived up to the hype, or the original price, but I've seen them coming down and I'll buy more without the purty white box.

My local shop is still trying to sell off the remainder of the Vision vitolas from its first release. I think there's a lot of resistance to this brand among many aficianados because of fear that much of the price per stick reflects the expensive packaging. IMHO, I don't see CAO making this frontmark a priority, especially after the sale to ST Cigar Group. If you are interested in Vision by the stick, shoot me a PM and I'll check out what is avaliable at my local place and I'll give you info on vitolas available and the pricing.
