Carribean Cruise and two days in Miami.

Well I am all booked for my cruise on the Carnival Liberty (yeah I heard the horror stories about the smoking lounge). The good thing is I am going two days early and staying in Miami.

I've read the Cigar Afficionado article on places to see in Little Havana so I'm going to check out some of those recommendations. I'm also planning on visiting Pepin's cigar factory while there. Now for the brothers in Florida, where are the best cigar deals to be found while staying in Miami?

Little Havana really is something. The second I got out of the van to parallel park on the street (guys trip earlier this year) the aroma of cigars was heavy in the air. People are smoking everywhere. I don't think you will find to much in the way of deals, maybe some Padron fumas, but its an awesome experience even if you pay full price. Have a few cafe cubanos, eat somewhere, and puff away.

After you visit Pepin, make sure you look in the El Titan de Bronze factory. It's right across the street, katty-corner from Pepin's place. Say hello to Carlos and make sure you pick up a rew Redemption Sungrown Toros. May be the best kept secret in Little Havana.

I will have a look if I get the chance and pickup some of those Redemptions.I noticed in some pics that the Pepin factory sells cigars and noticed Tatuaje boxes on there shelves. Do they carry the whole line there?

I don't know. I got to Little Havana at 3 pm on a Saturday afternoon, ate a leisurely lunch at a nearby cafe, then sauntered over to the Pepin factory. Only to discover, to my dismay, that the Pepin factory closes at 4 on Saturdays. They were locking up as I was coming out of the cafe, so I didn't get to visit. (I blame Delta for the flight coming in late).

I believe they carry and sell at least all the cigars that are rolled there. I don't know about the ones rolled in the Nicaragua factory, but they could have those too!

Enjoy your trip!

I make it to Miami about once a month for work - at the Pepin factory they carry everything rolled there (you have to pick up a couple Cojunos if you like a medium bodied cigar) and they do not always have the other rolled in Nicaragua.

As for another stop I have found the best deals at La Gloria Cubana (right next door to Pepin's factory).

I agree with the other poster - have fun, soak up some culture, eat a Cubano sandwhich, try the coffee and talk with the locals!

Have fun! Are you going Western Carib or Eastern?

Eastern Carib. Leaving early tomorrow morning. Going to give Pepin factory a call and see if Pepin himself is going to be there :)
