Cheaper Alternative to a Diamond Crown Maximus

Munt

Maturing Primate
I had my first DCM Pyramide while at Casa Fuente in Vegas last week and I must say it was a fine smoke. There it was $25.00 but I realize they are cheaper in the real world. But is there anything that compares more in the $3 - $5 range?

Quick Review.

As a nose exhaler, I have to say that this cigar had a great amount of flavour without much spice. Lots of smoke, but it did have burn problems that needed to be corrected a couple of times. That didn't deter me at all. Time to smoke this beauty was 4 Mojitos.

Thanks for your time,

Mr. Munt!!!!

I wouldn't know, TBH. The closest I've ever gotten to a Diamond Crown Maximus is buying an empty box of toros off my B&M :p

I think the answer to yourquestion would be some CCs - you can get some for cheap if you're willing to risk it, hehe...

And 4 mojitos? Damn - that's the life!

The only stick that comes to mind that MIGHT be slightly close in that price range is a 5 Vegas Classic or the Rocky Patel Corojo missile.

The DCM double belicoso is one of the best cigars I've smoked this year. Finding an equivalent in that price range is a tall order... Maybe, just maybe, you might want to test drive La Tradicion Cubana. They're considerably lighter but fall into the same range of flavors (not as rich though) and are in the prescribed price range.

As a previous love of DCMs only the Ashton VSG and the San Cristobel are close to them, at least in my mind. The previous poster was a little off base with the 5 vegas Classic which I've also had. But there are VSGs which are about $10 per.

I don't know if you'll find a good alternative in the price range you are looking for.

the best Don Lino Africa I ever smoked tasted like the best DCM I'd ever had to a T, much cheaper!

I've had a few "off" Africas and DCMs as well though fwiw

This is like saying, "I drove an Audi A8 and love the styling and performance, but what $15,000 car would give all that...?" With that being said the Hyundai Sonata won't make or compare to the A8. Good luck. I would recommend a El Rico Habano (La Gloria Cubano full body low price line), which I find enjoyable, but enjoy and smoke it slowly. The good thing is that they are $4. If you want anything to better compare the experience to a DCM try my favorite Padron 1926 #35. You cannot go wrong. They retail for $9.75.

Pretty sure he asked for something close in the 3 to 5 dollar range.....not the $10.00 range, which if he wanted something close on the $10 range, he'd just buy another DCM.

Thanks guys for the help. I had that cigar and what I liked about it was, it had very complex flavours, but NO SPICEY FINISH. If some of the other cigars are the same sorta thing, than we should be good. I guess that it was I am asking for more than a true alt to that gar.

Thanks again,

Sean.
