If we are talking around $60 ish or less, the Pepin 5 Vegas Miami win hands down IMHO. In fact, I like them better than some of the other lines that cost more, such as the Black Label (which I don't find that strong or peppery). It's just one of those blends that satisfies anytime (afternoon or evening etc). Conversely, the CI Pepin Legend's are made with cheap tobacco, the blend is too mild and thin tasting (no richness) and it just never did anything for me regardless of the price. I bought only one box thankfully and most of them were kind of rank tasting (however, some people seem to like them). On the milder side, the Holts Fumadore has much better flavor than the CI Yellow Legend (at least the first run did).
Old Henry's are one of my favorites along with the San Cristobal, Holts Connoisseur, JJ Maduro Sublime, most all Tatuaje's, 601 Habano, Pepin Blue, LHO's, Habano Leon (and many of the other Pepin Cigar King blends, although they priced themselves out of the market unfortunately) and some others. So many good ones :tu.
Below is a must try list (although I realize this is off topic and most don't fall under the noted price list).
These are the best of the best right now if we aren't including Cubans IMO (in no particular order per say because it changes monthly
):
- JJ Series Maduro Sublime
- Tatuaje West Coast (and the East Coast is not far behind along with many Brown Labels like the Cojonu 2003 and the Havana VI line)
- San Cristobal
- Tatuaje Jibaro No. 1
- The Old Henry
- Camacho Triple Maduro (a recent addition to JBI's top list)
- Pepin 601 Habano
- Holts Connoisseur Bishop
- Pepin 5 Vegas Miami (really love this blend for the price)
- Pepin Blue Label
- Pepin LHO
- Opus X (and a couple other Fuentes)
- Some LFD's (Double Ligero, Litto Gomez etc...)
- JML 1902 (a recent addition to JBI's top list)
- Liga Privada #9 (a recent addition to JBI's top list)
- Custom Chi-town Blend (can't mention the real name, a recent addition to JBI's top list)
- Graycliff Grand Cru (a recent addition to JBI's top list, way over-priced though)
- Some Illusiones
- Many Pepin Cigar King blends (Habano Leon, Hirsh v. Garcia etc..)
- Nic. Heirloom Corojo 99 (corona gorda and churchill especially)
- El Cobre Churchill (the toro wasn't nearly as full)
- Some sizes of the Oliva V
- Some older and new Tropical stuff (old Del Sols, Famous Nic. Corojo, Custom Top Shelf Blue Label to name a few)
I may have missed something, so I reserve the right to edit and add in the future :r !
The Casa Royale and a few others will be on the top of this list shortly once released. :ss
