Legends Series - Pepin Garcia

Cuban seed Nicaraguan filler
Corojo wrapper
5.7" x 57 rg

Not enough patience to let it sit for a while, smoked it fresh after getting it from c-bid

Overall impression:
I liked this cigar. Peppery spiciness balanced with basic tobacco flavor at first, then changing to a creamy mild leather and earth. The aroma was leathery. The finish was short and mild throughout.

Construction:
Firm throughout, appears well made, large ring gauge, smooth medium brown wrapper.

Prelight:
cut cleanly with cap nicely intact
draw is just right.
a mild tobacco flavor with no other noticeable flavors (probably my inexperienced pallet.

First third:
Thick chewy smoke, peppery and spicy. A leathery taste accompanies the spice, and balances it well. The draw is flawless, and provides huge amounts of cool smoke. The burn was even and the ash held tight.

Second third:
The spiciness takes a back seat to an earthy flavor, leathery and mild and flavorful. The finish is short and smooth. The burn still picture perfect.

Final third:
No harshness at all. no burning of the tongue. Still lots of smoke. Very mild. The spice disappears and a creamy mild flavor prevails. I was smoking it heavy at this point, and it stayed cool and mild and flavorful. No bitterness or bite at all.

Thanks for the review! I haven't tried many of Pepin's cigars & will be adding this one to my ever growing list... :ss

After being wowed by most cigars from Pepin, these were a bit of a letdown. I didn't think the construction was typical Pepin, and the flavor profile seemed unbalanced to me.

I am hoping he is not taking on to much with his popularity explosion.

I agree with you on this cigar... it's probably just due to working within the parameters of the Legend Series. I think they don't have any of these smokes that sell for more than $5.00 a stick.

if i didn't know who pepin was, and had never smoked one of his cigars, i would still like this smoke.

yes it is different than his premium sticks, and for many it might be bland and disappointing. the appeal of this stick for me is the initial peppery spiciness. i like that.

Thanks for the review. Have not had one of these yet, I was wondering about them since they are the highest rated of the Legends Series on Top25Cigar. Worth a try at the price.

A group of guys I know did a group buy/review of all the CI Legends series and this cigar came out on top with the Perdomo right behind as the best ones, and for many of they guys they were the only ones worth buying.

The Legend Cigars are a nice novelty for CI. I have tried several different cigars in this line. I have yet to try the Pepin version. You can get five packs of the Legend series on Cbid relatively inexpensive. For the cost these are not bad cigars to try. Just my :2

Got a box on the devil site a few weeks ago, and for the price they are hard to beat. Paid just over 50 bucks.

They have the Pepin profile and make a great "Bring Don Pepin to the Golf Course" cigar.

I just won a 5pk of these on cbid ($13) & can't wait to try them... So far my Pepin experiences are limited to a Cabaiguan & a Black (both very nice cigars!).

well the legends are supposed to be a lower end cheaper cigar, so to expect this smoke to compare to his main lines is a bit unrealistic...
