I just finished reading a thread posted By Darrell: Re: Effects of high temp. and it got me thinking. Cigars have ben around for hundreds (thousands?) of years. . . So knowing some of the possible problems we BOTLs face with RH, Temp, Beetles, the need for distilled water for the humi, etc. How did folks say in the 1700's or 1800's store their cigars and not loose the majority to these issues?

I'm searching the internet for some possible answers, but I'm sure someone in this community has some insight into history.

:confused::confused::confused:

Dry box storage was quite common until the 1950's (I think). Also cellars have a relatively constant temperature and humidity.

Cellars, glass jars with sponges or damp cloth. I would assume you buy what you are going to smoke quickly. Along the idea of buy from the market what you will use with in a few days. I'm sure a good deal of praying for no beetles comes into play.
