Cigar Register v2.0

BTW, I figured out if you want to back up your data base, just copy all the files in the root of the install folder. I aint doing all this just for a HD to crash on me. My backup program catches it every night.

Any of you guys having a problem with CR 2.0? It took me 3 tries to download the program. The first two attempts lasted hours and crapped out 97% of the way through. The 3rd attempt was only 20 minutes or so.

I installed the program and it looked great. However, as soon as I tried to add a "humidor" I got some sort of database error. Anyone else experiencing this?

I'm running Vista and I did give the program the necessary permissions as noted in the CR 2.0 FAQs.

Did you apply the permissions to just the .exe? The database files need the permissions as well.
I right clicked on the program to grant permissions as the instructions on the website advised. What additional steps do I need to take to grant permissions for the database files?

1) Program Files / Cigar Register, select all files in the folder click properties, select the security tab
2) click edit (and continue)
3) select users and click Full control under Allow

Sorry, no problems here on Vista. Works good for me. Maybe a re-install if you kept the download?

I tried that too.

I'll give that a try. Thanks!

Going through and changing the permissions for pretty much every CR 2.0 file seemed to solve the problem. Thanks! :tu

Yeah. It's that all files part that's key. Easy enough though to select all and apply the change.

No prob, beats trying to dload from that slow site. A few things I would like to see

1. The ability to add "boxes" to a humidor. I use boxes to hold mixed cigars. Be nice to know what box they are in.

2. Edit the reviews, my typing sux.

3. Still not bad for FREE!!!

Late last week, I finished converting my cigar record keeping from Cigar Briefcase to Cigar Register 2.0. Both programs have things that the other doesn't. However, I found CR2.0 to be easier to work with and their cigar database contains more NC's than does CB's database.

BTW - I can pass the CD along to someone else who needs it.

(I don't see a problem with it since the software is freely available from their website if you can ever get it fully downloaded. If anyone affiliated with Cigar Register would not like me to pass the CD please let me know.)

What's the price of Cigar Register?

Cigar Register is free for all use - you only have to register on this web-site to get it. Although it's free to download, distributing it - even for free - is strictly forbidden!

Its listed on their site, but I don't quite understand why, either way I am gonna try it out!

Thanks for the heads up, I will certainly respect Cigar Register's wishes and not pass along the CD.

Guys, if you have to and want to stay legit, register on the site (this meets the EULA and pm me for a disk). Nothing says you have to fight their bandwidth issues. Trust me, about 10 tries to yank down a 30M file at a about 100K sux.

That's pretty crazy that they won't let you distribute the software. I mean they give it away for free and it's nearly impossible to download from their site. It took me three tries and several hours of my time.
