cigar tax?

The incident to my co-worker happened a couple of years back, and I think the state only went after cigarette smokers. I should be asking each online vendor on how they plan on treating my purchases. I know that Cigar Fox will collect the taxes, because their corporate offices are here in Michigan. I have no idea how CI, Neptune, Famous, Fincks, Mike's and all the others are going to treat my personal information. :2 :2

You mean CF will collect taxes for Michigan, or all states?

Only if you mail-order from CF and live in Michigan. CF's home office is in Michigan, and they have to collect taxes on anything ordered online for Michigan Residents.

I don't think they collect taxes from anyone that they aren't forced to do so.

What my question is, will other online companies not based in Michigan hand over my purchase records to the money-hungry politicians here if they are asked for - or leaned on... :hn

This was tried in the state of Maine. The state tried to tax all tobacco purchases from out of state, but the courts overruled the decision and are now unable to tax tobacco products from out of state. Here's a way we can combat this.....VOTE LIBERALS OUT OF OFFICE!

What I do is if I am going to make an online order I use those American Express gift cards and then use a different name for having them sent to me.

I have only done this once, but it should work. :D

*Note I don't advocate avoiding taxes. :ss
