Cigarette smokers confuse me...

Why do they treat Cigar smoke as "more offensive" than cigarette smoke? I have only been smoking cigars a relatively short time.... lived much of my adult life not smoking at all... but I ALWAYS enjoyed pipe and cigar smoke far more than cigarettes. Makes no sense to me...

Wow. Some of the posts here give the impression you're looking for a confrontation. Are you sure that's how you want to represent the Jungle? A wise man once said, "a soft answer turns away wrath." It takes the wind right out of a jerk's sails. Never wrestle with a pig ..... you'll both get dirty, and only the pig will enjoy it.

I don't think that it had anything to do with her being a cigarette smoker, she was just a rude gal.

I've had that happen a few times when we could smoke in Madison. I am a very sensitive cigar smoker to non-smokers. I can understand that the smell can bother them. But when a cigarette smoker has issues I believe it's hypocritical, so I tend to give them the ol:fu. Something I've seen along the same lines is a bar allowing cigarette smoking but has a sign that says "No cigar or pipe smoking allowed." Cigars are for connoisseurs and cigarettes are for addicts...that is coming from a former cigarette smoker and copenhagen chewer.

So a while back when smoking cigars was still allowable at the Casino here in MN, Mystic Lake QUOTE]

I used to be a regular at Mystic lake until they banned cigars and pipes,,have not been back since. When they announced that they were banning the above I tried to talk to the VP of operations and got blown off (nice to be in a business that would let a good customer walk without even listening to his complaint) One of the customer service reps at club Mystic said that most of the complaints came from cigarette smokers and I believe that was probably true..The casino doesn't have the onions to ban smoking altogether because they know that the gambling addicts almost all smoke,,plus they have three smoke shops on the reservation. In the news letter the VP of operations said that "they have had several complaints about cigar and pipe smoking, so they were banning the use of same as of March/ 07,,if you want to have a celebratory cigar just step outside any of the exit doors and enjoy" my response to that is kiss my ass and I took my business elsewhere.

I'll always ask if it's ok to smoke a cigar in public unless the only people around me are smoking cigarettes. Then I just light up anyway. I figure they already smell...so what the hell.

I realy never understood the whole Cig VS Cigar fight.

In my opinion cigars smell better, make less mess and taste better.

Cig smokers are just jealous I think ! :ss

In the midst of all this debate over hypocracy and cigars smelling better, I have come to one conclusion.

I need more than one hand to count the occasions I have heard of a cigar smoker being asked to put it out by a cigarette smoker, and yet, I cannot count on one finger the amount of times I have have heard a cigar smoker tell a cigarette smoker to put his cigarette out.

I may just be "judging" on this one, but I feel like there are a lot more cigar smokers that would be empathetic to this situation than cigarette smokers if asked to put out.

I have had several experiences like that, including a girl who was chain smoking Marlboros on the other side of the bar, literally start screaming at me across the bar that my cigar was giving her a migraine.

I usually handle these situations with a little tact, but in that particular case I told her to go @#*& herself.
:r Good for you :tu:tu Maby you should have taken a seat next to her , the migraine might have turned in to a stroke .. sorry that was mean ..:D

So a while back when smoking cigars was still allowable at the Casino here in MN, Mystic Lake for those interested, I had a very strange experience with a cigarette smoker. My friends and I were playing Bingo and were smoking cigars. Now I am generally a very polite smoker because I do not want to be responsible for bringing the rep of cigar smokers down. In being polite, I am looking for an empty table to sit at, there were none that I could see so I ask a lady puffing away on her cigarette sitting alone at a table and this is how the conversation went...

Me: Hello, would you mind if my friends and I sat here to play?

Her: (look of disgust as if I were a leper) Not with THOSE things!

Me: (Walking away) (talking to friends) wow, what a bitch, the only thing my cigar would do is improve her smell. (we had a little laugh)

This is what perplexes me, a simple 'I'd rather you didn't' would have worked fine, especially since I was being so damned polite, but no. She had to take the bitchy approach, and I guarantee I saw her smoke bothering other people after we sat down away from her, and she didn't even care.

Anyone else have experiences with rude cigarette smokers while politely smoking a delicious cigar?

You see its people like that, who give cigarette smokers a bad name. I smoke cigarettes along with cigars and I will be the first to say that cigars smell much better then cigarettes. Some people are just very disrespectful.

cigarette smoking is pointless the only reason why people smoke them is because they are addicted or they wanna be cool, ya never hear anyone say "wow this cigarette tastes so good"

You bet, I heard that all the time when they allowed cigarette advertising on TV. Fred Flintstone used to smoke Winstons. And everybody knows "Winston tastes good like a cigarette should!"

And looking through some of the videos on YouTube no one ever posed with a cigar because they wanted to appear cool.;)

You know, when I first started smoking cigs during last summer, I thought they tasted delicious for a good 3-4 months. Nothing like cigars, just it's own thing. I actually enjoyed the entire cigarette-smoking experience. Now it's just become something that I've been doing (not too heavily, still at 3-4 smokes a day), and I don't enjoy it at all like I had.
