Cigars & Camping

Last week I mentioned in footbag's thread here that I was also heading out camping and that while I was packing up my goodies for the trip my wife walked by and said that she wanted me to bring her some cigars to try as well.

She said she wanted something mild but I knew she would prefer the taste of a good maduro so I decided to pull a fast one on her. The first night I lit up my Sancho Panza Double Maduro and handed her a Macanudo Hampton Court that had been haunting my humidor for years. She liked the look of it and got down to puffing.

Within minutes she looked at me like I had handed her a skunk to smoke. I told her that she would surely prefer the richer maduro and not to let the dark wrapper disuade her. So the Mac went into the fire and another Sancho Panza was lit. Needless to say she enjoyed that tasty, smoky little bugger (makes a great skeeter repellent) and the next night we both enjoyed Padron 2000 maduros.

All in all it was a great weekend. Now I have to decide which cigars to bring we we head out camping again in two weeks.

where do you guys camp at? We like to go out past Greenwater on the way to Crystal Mountain...

I live out this way (Bonney Lake), so I sometimes go camping at Buck Creek or out on I-90 just past Snoqualmie at Lake Katchees(?). If you go out along 410, try going over the mountain sometime and camp on the Eastern side of Rainier before you hit Yakima. Good camping and less crowding usually.

Heck getting swmbo to smoke is a bonus. Sharing smoking notes is a bonus, campfire or not. My gf just got onboard and is developing the like/don't like list.

Good for you on the campfire smokes!

Congrats on sharing a smoke with your wife. My wife won't touch them, but I guess that just leaves more for me.

A couple of years ago I got together a group of guys to go fishing in Canada. You know the trip, they fly you in on a float plane, drop you off and come pick you up in a week. Anyway I grabbed a bunch of cigars, had it all planned out.

Got up there to camp, smoked one then realized that my dad, after 50 years decided to leave his cigarettes back in civilization to force himself to quit.

There was no way I was going to sit there and smoke in front of him so they all came home. The best laid plans...

We've only lived out here for the past two and a half years so we always go someplace new for each camping trip. It'll be quite a while before we start doubling back! This time we went to Ocean Shores and in a few weeks it's off to the San Juan Islands.

I didn't take any pictures of the nightly cigar fest but did snap a few of the one sunset over the Pacific when the clouds briefly parted.

there are PLENTY of great spots to visit/camp within 1 or 2 hours drive in the area! Look forward to reading about your adventures.....
