Cigars Exclusive to 2006

To give you some background, my son was born in October of 2006 and since then I acquired a few wines to age for the next 21 years. It never crossed my mine for whatever stupid reason to do the same with some cigars. Of course I have cigars in the humi I bought in 2006 but I wanted some suggestions on some sticks exclusive to 2006 and possible places to acquire them (the NCs of course). I am then going to put them away until he is at least 18 and some to save for the wine when he turns 21. Thanks for any suggestions.

Go for the 2006 Fuente Holiday Packs or the 2006 Don Carlos Special Edition sets.

2006 Fuente Toast Across America Set is a nice set to have as well.

5 Vegas made a pretty good Limitada 06 cigar. It wasn't as good as the Limitada 05, unfortunately, but still very good. They can be had on CigarBid still, for a decent price.

I am certainly not an expert on this, but I read somewhere that even the best tobaccos, kept under the best conditions, won't last more than 5-7 years. I don't know if keeping them 21 years would be advisable.

From what I have read, if you are aging for this long of a timeframe, you should keep the humidity a little lower than what most people are probably used too for a cigar. Something in the range of 50-55% if I remember correctly. I'll see if I can find some more info

Ok, so here is one bit of info I dug up:

10+ Years - At this point we enter the realm of "vintage" cigars in my book. Many of these cigars will be so flat and boring they are worthless to smoke, while others will take on unique characteristics that will make them enjoyable smokes. One such trait is a musty smell and a taste that is similar to snuff. Another rarer long-term aging trait is cigars taking on an odd scent that is commonly referred to as the "stinky cheese-like smell." This odd reference is due to their pre-light bouquet being faintly similar to a wheel of Stilton cheese. Though it may sound unappealing, these cigars are a delight to smoke and are highly prized by vintage cigar collectors worldwide. Many pay top dollar to secure these smokes. Regardless of the flavor characteristics of vintage vitolas, rarely do any of these cigars maintain any quantitative strength at this level of aging. Also, only the fullest bodied cigars have any chance of being worthwhile smokes after this many years.

So if at all possible, try to look for a cigar that will fit this category :cb

Any thoughts on the Tatuaje Cojonu 2006? And how are the CCs stored that have been aged that long or longer (ie Clear Havanas)?

The cojonu 2006's were not necessarily rolled in 2006. The year just refers to the blend. They are planning on creating a new blend every 3 years, so there are the cojonu 2003's, the 2006's and supposedly a new blend will be created in 2009.

If you could find a box from 06, I bet they would be mighty tasty right now.

A unique Dominican in 2006 in my opinion were the Holiday release for the Fuente Cameroon Sharks. I'm not sure how easy it is to find one now, but someone in the jungle may have some. I can't attest to how they'll smoke either in 18 years.

There are of course some Habanos that continue to develop well into several decades. Many of the Cohibas are recommended at 10+ years. I'm sure there are some Edition Limitada or Regional Release Habanos that will do wonderful things in 18+ years.
