Cigars for my wedding

Howdy!

I'm getting married in October, and I'm planning on providing cigars and scotch for after dinner. Most attendees will be occasional smokers at best, so I'm thinking I should certainly go with a mild cigar. Also, knowing that people might not finish them or simply take them home with them, I don't want to break the bank for those. I'll be sure to have some really nice ones for the tighter circle of friends. Maybe some Padron 1964's, since I've never had one.
:ss

Any suggestions on the mild cigars? Any input will be greatly appreciated!

First off, Congrats on the marriage.

Go with any AVO (probably like the #3, Intermezzo, or Domaine #50) all some of my all time faves. Lots of smoke, and pretty hard for you to screw it up. A very tasty straight forward smoke. Not too bad on the wallet either, about $100 for a box.

Also, perhaps try The Edge by Rocky Patel, I like the Missle Corojo personally. Also a very tasty smoke, and hard to screw up for a novice. And they come in larger quantities per box for some of the viotlas.

You want something people who do smoke are going to enjoy, but people who don't know what they are smoking won't be lost. :2

Hope it helps, I am sure other gorillas will have some good suggestions as well. :tu

A great cigar that won't break the bank is The Excalibur by HDM, or even the Dark Sumatra. Alot of BOTL's here rank them very high for the price. :tu

Fuente 8-5-8's are a solid stick to give out. Seems everyone has one and likes it at some point in their smoking days.

Flor de Oliva Gold, Casa Torano, Chateau Real, Helix 550, RyJ Reserva Real, Dunhill Signed Range, CAO Gold, Indian Tobac Classic, Rocky Patel's Connecticut, Ashton Classic, Montesino, H. Uppman Vintage Cameroon, GR Specials Black Label, Perdomo Champagne are just a few.

If you want a nice mild cigar, 5Vegas Gold. Very mild with no bad characteristics, excellent appearance with a very impressive band. Not terribly expensive either.

The AF 8-5-8 nats are a sure fire smoke that most occasional smokers will find both generous and enjoyable. Another nice smoke would be a Punch Rare Corojo, always consistent, always tasty. Something else to consider is size, if you think most will just take a puff or two then bail, maybe a Rothchild size.
Cant go wrong with the PAM 64's!:ss

I was actually introduced to cigars at a wedding myself. The cigars that were offered up were Temple Hall Maduros. Mild, yet delish. I had another recently, and I still rated it an "A!" And for your inner circle I'd get Cohiba Red Dots- a good cigar with a name even non-cigar buffs have heard of!

Let's go with some infused cigars! May even get the gals to join--Acids!
Other than that, I'd have to 2nd the AF curly heads, RP connecticut (Edge may be too strong), Cusano 18.

:tpd:

I was going to recommend the Dark Sumatra. Fairly mild and has a great appearance and aroma.

Enjoy!

why dont you see if there is a cigar roller in your city who does private functions. Then that'll be doubly cool as he'll handroll orignals not to be had anywhere else. Definately a night to remember =]

50 Cabinet of Partagas Shorts would be perfect. They are an agreeable smoke, not expensive and the right size for such an event.

Fuente 8-5-8 will go over very well.

If you go the CC route I would go with SLR series A. I broke out a box of these from 06 for my holiday party and everyone really really liked them.

Congrats on the Wedding!

I agree on the 8-5-8's... Great somkes at a reasonable price.

Now on to the Scotch, what are you serving up?

Padron 3000M, since there's a good chance many of them won't finish the sticks, and they seem most agreeable to everyone, and really won't break the bank. The A64s might be kinda high on the price scale for nonsmokers.

That's brave; SLR's is a line of cigar that can be hit or miss in personal tastes. There are other brands that more mass appeal. I am not knocking that cigar, it's just not a cigar that "is for everyone".

I really appreciate all your input!

I actually had a RyJ Reserva Real myself last night and while I certainly enjoyed it, I'm a little worried they might be too strong for the non regular smokers. I don't want anybody getting sick that night. At least not from what I'm serving... :)

Not so sure on the Scotches yet. There will be an assortment of them. Bowmore and Glenfiddich for sure, the rest I'll have to see.

How would you guys offer the cigars? I don't wanna bring out my humi, just so someone can knock it on the ground. I was thinking of buying like a $30 one from JR, just for that night. If it gets wrecked, so be it. Or maybe simply in the box they come in? I could keep them in a coolidor for a few months, cause my humi is not big enough to stick whole boxes in.

I was thinking about having cigars rolled that night, but I've gotten away from that. Just don't wanna deal with it. But I do hope that I'll be able to talk somebody else into doing it at some point...:ss
