Cops and Stogies

Good to hear that you got a break. I've been a motorcycle cop for a lot of years and the only gar smokers I've pulled over are the ones that use the phillie blunt/ganja blend most likely found in the projects as their go-to stick!

Good Story. I've been on the job about 5 years now and I wish I could light up my stogies in the patrol car but it's against our policy to smoke in the vehicle...... which I guess I agree with because sharing a car with a cigarette smoker would suck.

My advice to people when they get stopped is to to treat the officer with respect and that will go a long way. Plus you never know...... you and that officer might have similiar interests (stogies, pipes, or whatever). I just let a lady go for doing 65/40 because she had her twins in the car..... and being the wife and I have twins I can't bring myself to fine her $95.00 when I know how difficult things can be w/twins. When you get stopped Expect a ticket but appreciate a break if you get it.

I get a craving whenever I'm working and pull up next to someone smoking their gar or pipe............

As a Deputy I have had many encounters with fellow cigar smokers. I always have a few extra sticks with me (Padron or Torano) and always try to share.

Things always seem better with a good cigar.

Heres a story i think everyone will enjoy.

Im cruising down the road, smoking a nice cigar, a Camacho, not watching my speed when i get pulled over. Now ive been pulled over a million times and have a million tickets, but never with a cigar. The officer walks over to my window and asks for my license and insurance, im very careful not to blow smoke in his face as i hand it to him. He comes back in a few, gives me info back and begins to discuss the cigar im smoking. Not only does he identify it by the smell, i took the label off, but we talked for a few minutes about smoking cigars and where to get good deals on good cigars and such. Needless to say i got off the ticket, but i got to smoke a good cigar, and talk with a felllow stogie smoker. So word to the wise, always have a cigar handy and you can get away with alot.

what a great story, Had to feel good

Great story, I wish I would have had the same luck the other.

I was driving into work. Some of you know I work at the WH. Well the uniform secret service patrol the streets around the WH on bikes. I made an illegal left turn on Pennsylvania Ave off of 17th street. (only allowed to turn left after 9:30AM). Most ppl make this illegal turn to get into the parking garage and I have been making this turn for about 4 years now. But this day, they decided to enforce it.

Anyway, I was almost finished with a nice RP Vin 92 6 X60. When I got pulled over the secret service guy was not impressed. He asked me to put it out.

Then he asked me for my drivers license and registration. I did give it to him. He looked at it for a second and said, "Is your license suspended or do you have any unpaid tickets". I then said, "No", he then said " Because I am going to run your license and if it comes up suspended I am going to throw you in jail". WHAAAAT. Was that really necessary for a $25 traffic ticket?

Anyway, I took the ticket and acted very respectful to the guy. When I got to my office I called the UD SS office and explained to this guys supervisor what he said. His supervisor was not happy and told me a formal apology would be on the way and the officer would be trained on his professionalism.

See that story is what would happen to me. I would say "yes sir, and he would drag me out of the car hit me with his club, taze me, then throw me in jail" (Long Island cops are very bored and are on a bit of a power trip, sad but true.....)

They are probably watching too many COPS reruns on TV.
