So Craig(Cozy) wanted my opinion on some smokes, so I agreed if he would send them unbanded. Yesterday an assortment of smokes arrived in a wide variety of sizes and wrappers.
Tonight I smoked #8
Approximately 5x52/54 Belicoso. Well constructed, no soft spots or large veins. Prelight draw was a bit free with no discernible flavors.

Nice smoke production but very little flavor. I am guessing a cameroon wrapper but a non distinct filler and binder. Pretty bland overall. From beginning to end burn was consistent but this one just didnt seem to have a whole lot of flavor. No bad or off tastes, just nothing that stood out as special. Not much of a nic kick so I would place this at the mild end of the scale. A decent yard gar, but not something I would seek out on a regular basis. So what did I smoke, Craig?
 
Number 8 was a OneOff Pyramid. I have only smoked one of these but I recall having about the same experience as you. From the description when I ordered these I was expecting a totally different smoke. I didn't quite move it to yard gar but for some reason I never went back to it. I guess I will spark one up for Saturday football.
 
Smoked #5 this evening. A nice looking 5x50 robusto. Very clean wrapper no veins and a very nice aroma. A bit soft in spots but not overly so.
Very good prelight draw with just a bit of resistance. Enjoyed this smoke from the start. Nice smoke production, good earthy flavors. Wrapper was a bit thin and it split in a couple of places, reminds me a bit of the Padilla wrappers I have seen in the past. No harshness or tongue bite. Continued with a pleasant earthiness. I liked this smoke, I am guessing a Padilla Hybrid. Thanks Craig, how did I do?:ss

Once again I we think alike on this one. Although I really treat this as one of my everyday/yard smokes because of the price. For the price I pick up as many as I can and everyone that I have given one to has at least enjoyed it. Number 5 is a Jericho Robusto by Camacho all purchased from the devil site.

Camacho is my favorite NC brand. This was quite mild compared to most of the other blends. A bit similar to the Habano 1999. I will have to keep my eye out for some of these. :tu
 
OK, after a weekend of herfing and tailgating, I burned #3 tonite.

Another 5x50 robusto. Nice construction, fairly heavy in the hand. Wrapper was a bit splotchy but no veins or other imperfections.
Nice prelight draw. This one had a nice burn but no exceptional tastes or flavors. Kind of a plain smoke. Stayed fairly one dimensional, but not unpleasant. I dont think I would go out of my way in search of these, but it was a decent overall smoke.
 
Ok, on this one we stand apart. I don't ever recall this one being as flat for me although not as complex as it's big brother. Smoke number 3 was the Litto Gomez Diez Cubano. I was on the hunt for the Lusitano but they were always oos at the time so I settled for these. Might have to shoot you another to resample :ss

Are you sure this one wasnt mismarked?? This one did not have the strength or flavor of any Litto I have ever smoked. Definitely had some Dominican flavor, but not the Litto's I truly love. Didnt have the kick like any I have smoked in the past. :confused:
 
I just rechecked the list and it looks like that was the LG. I was thinking that for a moment when you didn't mention any kick. Looking at the list you have two robusto size left. #4 should be a lil larger RG than #3 and #9 should be about the same size but a lil darker. LMK if that doesn't sound right

Yup, I checked #4 and 9 and your description seems accurate.:confused:
 
Smoked a couple of more this week.
First was the box pressed toro. 6x48/50, nice construction dark wrapper. A nice medium smoke, with some enjoyable flavors. It didnt jump out as an outstanding smoke, but a good mid priced($5-6) smoke that I would smoke again.

Tonight, #9. Another 5x50 approx. Robusto. Nice well rounded flavors. I would rate this a mild to medium smoke. Again I tend towards the more full bodied smokes like Camacho's when I smoke NC's. Some nice leathery undertones, with a bit of cocoa. Not sweet, but very pleasant. Both of these I would consider herf smokes as they were not too strong as to overpower the next cigar in the lineup.

On both of these I lean towards Dominican tobacco as they did not have the kick of a Nic or Honduran puro. But both were very smokeable and I would recommend either as a good stick. :tu
 
Didn't list a number on the first one you smoked, was it #6?
The second, Number #9 is one that I grab when I just don't know what I'm in the mood for. Goes well with whatever I am having to drink. #9 would be a Don Lino Africa Duma. :tu

I think it was #6. It was the only box pressed smoke in the bunch. I have enjoyed several sized in the DL Africa line and found them all very good. :tu
 
Well the first of the two should be number 6. I bought a ton of these after another review I read. Not a bad smoke to me but nothing there that makes me crave one. #6 is a Angel 1961.
 
OK, tonite was time for #4. A fat 5x52+ Robusto, nice dark wrapper(maduro?).
Good construction with a few small veins. Nice aroma, good prelight draw with nice cocoa flavors. First half of this smoke was very nice. A bit of chocolate, smooth and tasty. Burn was nice without need for touchups. About halfway things started to change so I gave it a good purge. Somehow this stick lost its flavor. Went from nice medium flavor to almost nothing. Very strange. I was thinking Padron for the first half, but I have never had a Padron just die on me like this one did. I would give this smoke a second chance just based upon the first half alone. I am guessing this was a nice $5 smoke. :confused:
