Decent cigar shops near DC Renaissance M Street?

I've got to be at a conference in Washington Thursday 'til Tuesday. Any of you Virginia or DC area folks know of a nice shop within walking distance of my hotel?

Many thanks...

I was at signature last week. Decent variety, but if you're looking for any "popular" ones, they didn't seem to have many in stock. Staff seemed nice, I walked in and the staff and some customers were sitting around watching "There Will Be Blood" and then one guy went in a tirade about how he hated the ending of "No Country for Old Men" and I joined in the fun until I remembered that my GF was outside waiting..

I would recommend JR Cigars on Connecticut Avenue. Large and in charge.

I've heard the ones in Georgetown are good, but haven't gone over since it's impossible to park

JR is on L Street, between Connecticut and 18th Street. It is 1/2 block from the Farragut North Metro stop Red Line, (the L St exit). Not sure if there is a place to sit.

W. Curtis Draper on 640 14th Street, I think between F and G. A shop that has been in DC for at least 40 years. Excellent selection plus pipes, pipe tobacco. Prices seem fair, as I recall. About 1-1/2 blocks from the Metro Center subway stop (13th & G exit).

Around the corner, at 1331 F, near 14th is Shelley's Backroom. It is one of the only restaurants/bars in DC in which you can smoke. You can bring your own cigar or buy one (expensive) there.

If you get over to Georgetown, on M, a few stores east of Wisconsin Avenue, is Georgetown Tobacco, an old-time tobacco store. Excellent selection and fair prices. A few places to sit. No subway to Georgetown, though.

All of these are walkable, though Georgetown is a long walk and you would be happier taking a cab. W. Curtis Draper is probably the closest and may take you 20 minutes to walk.

Wow... This is all great info. Thanks to all.

I think I'll print out a map and take with me. I'll probably have at least Sunday free so this will be a great way to spend it.

Thanks again for the great suggestions.

This is about the only post I 100% agree with here, and I am very familiar with the area around the Renaissance.
